So, I did a thing

I'm glad I didn't buy a Tundra now. I Was tempted, because my last one was such an amazing vehicle, but the new one has been problematic. I suspect Toyota will eventually work the bugs out, but to have been so heavily hyped, the new Tundra has been somewhat of a letdown. And though the V-6 makes plenty of power, the gas mileage is really not any better than many V-8s. My RAM actually gets better mileage than Toyota's V-6, though they make similar power.

GD, be careful if you plan to put a camper on your RAM. :faint:

The story of this popped up on my news feed. Apparently, they incorrectly figured the capacity of this truck, and the camper was well over the rated load. On top of that, he was driving it on crappy roads in Mexico.

And to everything else he had in it, he has a MOTORCYCLE lashed to the back,,, way too much tail weight. If it was me, I'd take out the back drive shaft and use the front wheel drive to wheel it back to the factory down there,,, just ask for Alejendro, he fixes all of them!!!

I bought a '98 Dodge 2500 diesel cab/chassis new and had a cargo box installed on it. About four years later, the truck bowed in the middle, just the opposite of what happened to the truck above.

Took it to a friend of mine who had a welding shop; the company who made and installed the box clamped it directly onto the frame with U-bolts and no rubber between them, and over time the box movement literally rubbed through the top rail of the frame and it collapsed. He had to take the box off and weld C-sections onto the frame to rebuild it.

Apparently, Consumer Reports hasn't seen the truck that broke in half!! I no longer have faith in CR or CNN! :coffeespit:
It wasn't a 1500. Starting in 2019, the 1500 (latest gen) was different from the rest of the RAMs. And yes, made in Sterling Hights, MI.

If you had ever been to Sterling Heights, you would be thinking differently.
Well, point being, it's made in USA, not Mexico.

The RAM Classics and I believe the heavy duty trucks are made in Mexico.

The latest gen RAM 1500 is an all different truck from the rest of the herd. It's won all kinds of awards and is by far the most reliable half-ton pickup on the market. Even beating the new Tundra, so far anyway.

Oh dear...

Look at he bottom of the door and the plow on the front, that truck was worked to death,,, unlike those wimpy Ram 1500's from Sterling Heights that are only used to go and see what's on sale at Home Depot!! A couple of 2x4's and a piece of rope and this GMC will be back plowing the roads for Ram 1500's is all I'm saying.
