So, I did a thing

This one definitely isn't slow. 400 hp and the electric assist. And it's whisper quiet.

The performance he showed in the video isn't bad either. A 15 second quarter mile in a vehicle that big and heavy is still pretty darn good. And if he is surprised by the gas mileage, he should have done research before buying.

Well, most full sized trucks aren't gas mileage Champs, horsepower isn't free. Some of the newer trucks with boosted V-6s do some better, but still aren't great. This RAM actually gets better gas mileage than the Tundra did.

Just wanted a youtube where they compared fuel mileage a 2022 RAM Rebel to a 2022 Tundra. The RAM had the same 5.7 and eTorque same as mine, the Tundra the 3.5 liter twin turbo.

Unloaded, the Tundra beat the RAM by 0.2 MPG. Towing, by about 1 MPG.

The RAM is an off-road model with larger tires and a lower rear end ration, so if they were comparing the "street" version, the unloaded test would probably have been a tie.

The testers were very surprised that the numbers were that close, they expected the V-6 to be much better.

RAM is coming out in the next year or two with a a booster straight six that supposed to make more horsepower than the HEMI. That will be interesting.

They had one years ago, called a Cummins Turbo Diesel. They will play hell coming up with something better, and what is a booster straight six,,, is that something for kids like a booster seat?

It's a great looking truck. Of course, I got to see it in person. There's nothing like that new smell! But being the Life Long Corvette Guy that I am, I had to settle on a revamp of my 16 year old truck. The lovely and gracious Mrs. Colson said we could justify a new Raptor if I wanted to sell the Vette, but neither one of us wanted to do that. She loves driving it as much as I so, so on with This Old Truck Renovation....

Looks great.

Wow nice makeover! The black rally stripes, bumper cover, lower side panel and roof lid look really good on that silver. For the money I would take it any day over a new one. Especially since it is a real truck (Ford).

They still do, on the 2500 and up.

They offer a 3 liter V-6 diesel on the 1500 RAM; it's gotten pretty good ratings but it costs more. I used to run some diesels in my business when it was cheaper than gas, but now that it's higher than gas it takes about 300k miles to recoup the investment of the cost of the diesel engine.

Well, as our Amish Brethren might say....I Thank Thee. It hadn't been just a few months ago, after moving our daughter and her family over a period of weeks and pulling a trailer, that I had called it a "tool" and was about to write it off. I really don't remember what prompted me to start the renovation. Maybe I felt sorry for it. I just knew I wouldn't be able to get another daily driver and recently I've been checking out a job that would require me to use my personal vehicle, at least for a while. I started watching a few people with their ideas on You Tube and was quite amazed what a little work would do. The interior was still in great shape since I had put good seat covers on the first year I bought it and it had only 77k miles. Thanks for the kind words :)

I think you should buy a Red Torino with a stripe down the side. Might be good for a TV show.
