"And then, a person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian. This is not in the gospel. As far as what you said about whether I would advise to vote or not to vote, I am not going to get involved in that. I say only that this man is not Christian if he said things like that. We must see if he said things in that way and in this I give the benefit of the doubt."

Because he wants to protect America? Really?

#1 - Only God Himself knows the condition of an individual's soul and...

#2 - Who owns this wall?

I bet that would keep a few Hispanics out. Maybe Trump should ask him for the blue prints.

I am not so sure Trump is a Christian either, but as you say, only God knows that.

Of course...being a Christian is not a requirement to be POTUS. But I personally find some comfort in it.

And I really don't care what the Pope thinks about American politics. I have no doubt he's a man of God, but he's also demonstrated that he's somewhat of a Socialist.

Agreed. I'm not suggesting Trump is a Christian, but I know for certain the Pope does not have that inside information. And what a double standard about the wall. It's time to tear down the Vatican Wall and let anyone come in, willy-nilly.

The Pope knowing Trump's spiritual status means he should also be able to identify others in need of salvation from those who have already obtained it. I thought he had a hard job....it's already done for him. Easy-peezy!!!

The Pope does not "own" that wall. Just saying.

Should the Pope talk about politics, I do not think so, but they do talk. It is his opinion, I do not think that he was told divinely that Trump is not. He is entitled to his opinion, and you should not get so worked up what someone of a faith you do not even care about thinks. ;)

I don't think the Pope is a Christian. He doesn't have any special connections to God than anyone else. He's entitled to his opinion as is everyone else. Does that make a difference to anything in the world? Nope.

It gives me more ammo to think you are off your rocker! :p:p:p

But I do agree that you can think anything you want and it makes no difference. That is why I try (hey I am not perfect) to not get worked up over some of the crazy I hear from many. In the big picture is really does not make a difference. :)

I disagree with the Pope on this one.

But it wouldn't be right to not take a shot at Trump (it's what I do!). Isn't it a little hypocritical for Trump to be annoyed that someone questioned his faith but he's been questioning Cruz's faith for weeks and I think he did the same to Carson early on also.

Ha ha ha, but Good point.

Trump is fighting not only against other Rep candidates, Dem candidates, and GOP establishment, but now against the Pope.....AND HE'S STILL STANDING. This in itself is a remarkable accomplishment. I could be wrong (I don't think so) when I say never has such a radical candidate so unorthodox as Trump lasted as long in a previous primary. He continues to defy all odds, which is impressive. People complain about wanting changes in DC but those same people keep electing the same cookie cutter candidates. Sure, Trump raises the bar on uncertainty but I prefer that over the certainty of nothing continuing to change. We will have endured 8 years of OBummer...we can certainly survive 4 of Trump. Just my take.

(For the record, I still haven't made my final decision on who will get my vote on election day)

You have good points too.

Who "owns" the wall has nothing to do with it. The Pope chooses to live behind its protection. And for those informed of current events, Trump and many other Americans care about their safety and security and have been screaming for a barrier to fight against illegal immigration for years. Problem is, there hasn't been anyone willing to get up off their lazy, politically correct ass and DO IT.

And as the Pope has mass with the Mexicans at the border and I quote,“in remembrance of the thousands of migrants who have died in the desert on both sides of the border,” it would have been nice for him to have said a prayer for the family of one of my co-workers and friend, Deputy Loren Lilly, who was killed on duty almost 10 years ago by a drunk, illegal Mexican alien. Loren is just one example of many we hear about.

Of course I couldn't give two hoots what the man said if he was just another uninformed vagrant on the street, but he is a world figure and his words influence many people....unfortunately. I didn't see anything reported about him confronting Castro during his visit to Cuba about how un-Christian it is to allow his people to live in squalor. Instead he decides to insert himself into our political process.

But am I worked up about it? Not quite. The polls this morning are overwhelmingly with Trump on this issue. I just believe the Pope should take his own advice and take down the gates at Vatican City. I'm sure it could hold a few more thousand people. Maybe even some hippies with their tents set up and toking a little weed. Somehow I doubt his private army would stand for that.

I'm undecided and not necessarily on board with Trump at this time, but maybe....just maybe he should consider what he is saying here. Which is 100% accurate.

:laugh2: Still sounding like you are worked up about it. I am catholic and do not even care. Ministers, preachers, priests, or celebrities talk, I just do not listen. I think we need a wall, and whether he, you, or anyone else agrees with me does not matter. :dunno:

Oh and I only mentioned he does not "own " the wall because you asked. :grin2:

By the way, what is the cost and just how are we going to pay for this wall? I'm sure it's been discussed ad nauseum, but since I'm pretty sure China isn't interested in investing in another "Great Wall," I'm just curious about it.

Cut back on the BILLIONS spent on social programs, food stamps, subsidized housing, welfare and the thousands of additional ridiculous and frivolous programs funded by taxpayers and not only could a wall be built on the border, but we could add a mote with enough alligators to make it look like a Biblical Plague.

I'm not opposed to building a wall, but untill we cut off the freebies that is drawing them here, they will still find a way.

I hate to bust your bubble, but those programs are not going to go away. I'm hoping this wall is just campaign talk - I seriously doubt that it will ever actually happen (at least not in the next 8 years).

It probably won't, but it should.

I disagree. A wall will not only keep people out, but it will also keep people in (ask the folks in Berlin). And, if we are protecting our southern border, what about our northern border? Let's really make this place exclusive.
