My Emergency this morning!

Callahan

Stunt Driver
I am an experienced Firefighter. Yes, danger is my middle name. While starting my daily chore list, I suddenly smelled smoke. I rushed into the kitchen, with no regard for my personal safety. I found the coffee pot, which was off, with smoke coming from underneath the hot plate and the 1/2 cup of coffee remaining in the glass pot was boiling. I called the Chief and told her we needed a new coffee pot today. Not having one is a true emergency situation. Unplugging the coffee maker was a dangerous act, but my bravery knows no bounds.

OMG!! Your coffee pot died!!!! I'm so sorry for your loss but I know you are thankful that you got to spend those last minutes together... Your bravery in the face of such tragedy knows no bounds.

I'm sending a nomination in for you as hero of the week to the Savannah newspaper. Yer awesome, dude! :D

What happened to it?? Is it old??? That is scary!
All kidding aside, It was a good thing I was home. It would have started a fire, and my girls would have been trapped in the house. We have always had the coffee maker plugged in 24/7, like most people probably do. Never again. It was less than two years old and a top of the line model as it was.

Now I have to go home for lunch to check my coffee pot! That's scary!

It is scary. I will start unplugging mine, too, now.

Callahan :love . You have just validated my crazy OCD about everything in the house being unplugged! (Yes, I take forever to get out of the house, and will come home if I think I left the toaster or coffee pot plugged in.)

Brave effort on your part and I am deeply saddened to hear of a coffee pot dieing. They mean a lot. (sanity, family getting to live, I could go on.. :)) )

Wow such a brave man you are!!

I don't drink coffee however my teen daughter does so now I will have to make sure she unplugs her coffee pot each and every morning.

speaking of coffee let me tell yall what I did and maybe an experienced coffee drinker can direct me in what to do. So daughter tells me she is out of coffee and ask if I would get her some from the store. Sure no prob..so while buying groceries we picked her up some dunkin donuts coffee which is her favorite. She went to open it this morning and said um mom, this coffee is different..I said what do you mean..she showed me that we bought whole beans instead of ground coffee. So what the heck do I do to get those stupid beans ground up...use a hammer :laugh

Use a coffee grinder. I grind mine fresh if I am not using a K Cup.

Ditto! I don't generally obsess over things after I leave, because we have such a habit of unplugging things (toaster, coffee maker, iron, etc.) as soon as we're finished with them. Yes, Callahan, I am SOOO glad you were home...I didn't even thing about that!!! And it doesn't bear pondering... :'(

Now that I've had time to think about it, it has been upsetting some. Thank God I was here. I've been to countless house and apartment building fires over the years. Some we have put on the ground. Stuff is stuff, I could care less. Mine included. That's why they make insurance companies. If something had happened to my girls, I would have been heartbroken. They have been getting extra love today, that's for sure.

:spitchick
Do you have a food processor? That will grind it. Just not a fine ground. (I don't think she will notice.)

I leave my Bunn coffee pot plugged in. I heats the water in the reservoir and keeps it hot, when you add fresh water it releases the hot water into the pot. So what am I supposed to do???

I have a coffee maker that shuts itself off after it's been on an hour.
