Friday and Saturdays in October are a no go for me...not till football and competition season are over. We should do a hwy Thanksgiving dinner (first part of November sometime) and everyone bring a dish...if we could find somewhere to hold all of us that is. Just a thought ;D

October is going to be rough for many I would agree. I would not mind an end of September something or beginning of November, but I, personally, do not like any kind of "bring your own dish" get together. I am very picky about foods and I hate to hurt anyone's feelings, but I am not going to eat it. (I don't do buffets at restaurants either, yuck!)

I think a Saturday night get together is in order, but we need to be doing it soon. Yesterday, I accepted an offer to go to Afghanistan for a year. I haven't been told yet when I'll be going, but it will most likely be within the next month or two.

I think a Saturday night get together is in order, but we need to be doing it soon. Yesterday, I accepted an offer to go to Afghanistan for a year. I haven't been told yet when I'll be going, but it will most likely be within the next month or two.

Thanks IF. I got jolted with some more news just a little while ago. I was told they want us at McDill Air Force Base in "about two weeks" for two weeks of training. From there, we go to Camp Atterbury, IN for six days of processing (medical exams, shots, etc) and then from there leave to go to Afghanistan. This doesn't give me a whole lot of time to prepare to leave, but I will just have to deal with it. I've already prepped for this because I was supposed to go to Iraq the end of this month on another contract for the company.

They also have youtube blocked, lots of stuff. That kind of software likes to block forums that aren't on the safe list.

I can purchase internet service while I'm there that has nothing to do with the military, but unfortunately it's expensive as heck. I kid you not, there was one company (an American one) that was charging $1,000 a month in Iraq. What you had to do was get others to tie into yours and you charged them each month to pay for it.
