Duke

I posted something about this earlier today, but it's not here.

I just want to say "Thank you" to MamaHog and BBG for what they have done for me and Duke. Some may not know this, but someone had volunteered to take care of Duke while I was away. That person backed out the morning before I left to deploy. I searched frantically for someone else and came up empty. I ended up taking Duke to the animal shelter a half hour before they closed as no other options were available. When MamaHog and BBG found out where Duke was, they rescued him the very next morning.

These two fine people did not know me very well, but they were willing to step up to the plate in a big way to help me out and to save Duke's life. I'm fully aware some dogs will not get along as some people can't seem to get along. I don't begrudge them at all for having to make the decision that Duke cannot stay there anymore because he and one of their other dogs cannot get along. I admire them for still keeping him while another solution is found. These two fine people have my greatest respect and admiration. I did not know the extent of the damage Duke caused one of their other dogs until I read about it in this thread. Since Duke is my dog and he caused the damage, I'm going to reimburse them the money they spent on the vet bill. Duke is still my responsibility and I owe these two fine people that.

Now it turns out, thanks to wenfen another couple are interested in taking Duke in until I return home in October. Thanks wen, I really appreciate your efforts very much. You'll get my dogsitting business when I return home for good.

If anyone thinks MamaHog and BBG are out of line, think again. I'll be the first to say otherwise as they didn't have to give Duke a home. Duke would have most likely been dead by now if it weren't for them.

MamaHog and BBG, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm very proud to call both of you my friends.

Hoping this all works out... I have put Pms out to both Fox and MamaHog as to a possible lead for a good place for Duke to live until the fall...Lets keep our fingers crossed that this will work out...

Fingers crossed and thank you for helping.

Thanks Fox! Also, before I spoke to wenfen, I had lined up a friend to possibly take Duke. I will be taking him there today to see how he gets along with her dogs. If they don't get along, then I am glad we now have a second option.

Reimbursement is not necessary. We just want you to get your dog back when you get home.

Thanks SO much for your assistance, Wendy. We all want Duke to have a place to stay until The Foxster returns. IMHO, there is no "blame" to be placed anywhere in this circumstance. Everyone involved entered into this situation in good faith, but as we all know....things change.

Daughter Colson's large dog is not really compatible with our little dogs. He and Marty get along swimmingly and play togther. Bella, our Min-WaWa or Chin-Pin, HATES HIS A**! She snaps at Tucker if he gets within 3 feet of her! Thankfully he has not tried to hurt my little Bella or he wouldn't be permitted back in the house.

I can see where it is a difficult situation for both parties. My home is it is resolved soon :D

Yes Fox, reimbursement really is not necessary. I know how I feel about my dogs and I'm sure you feel the same way. They are just so damn easy to get attached to. The only reimbursement we want is to see you happy when you get Duke back and that is all.

I just took Duke over to a friend of mine's house. She has only bigger dogs. Duke got along great with them. He actually seemed happier playing with them. She is keeping him for the weekend to see if it will work out.
