Democratic Party determined to avoid Clinton’s big mistake in 2020

Grass roots organizing and working it from local perspective is always very important; but I think they still have no clue why Hillary lost.

She was terribly unpopular, she didn't excite the voters, she didn't turn them out at the ballot box that great.

Trump, though also with high negatives, had a rock solid core and a lot of people (myself included) were terrified at the thought of a Hillary presidency.

If the Dems had any clue, they would run a charismatic moderate. IMO, that would give them a good chance of winning.

"charismatic moderate" ???

Good luck in finding one of them. Anger, vitriol, and far-leftness is the standard they live by.

In my lifetime, I have voted FOR only one POTUS, all the rest were votes AGAINST the opposition. Until next November, then Mr. Trump will join Ronald Reagan as people I voted FOR.

They had one last time in Jim Webb. Of course, a moderate will not be allowed to get the Democratic nomination.

I just have a feeling it's going to be Warren. She's the highest poling woman and the Democrats are not going to nominate an old white man. It's all about "ism".

I don't know if she can beat Trump or not, but she is positioning herself away from the real crackpots. She is going to try to be that candidate even though she has her own baggage.

I sure hope it’s her. :connie1:

In all seriousness...with that pack of clowns running, it wouldn't surprise me if the Super Delegates make a last minute change and hand pick a nominee.

All it takes is the first round to fail and the Superdelegates are right in there. Now if you were the Democratic Leadership and wanted to pick a candidate, who would you pick?

I honestly don't know. Most of them seem to be so far over the edge, they are just disgusting.

The closest to what the dems want? Let's see....socialism, total banishment of Christians and Jews or at least removal of their first amendment rights, more societal decadents like special rights for homosexuals and their demand that everyone in the nation agree with it, a 70% tax rate to start and....oh, yes....infanticide up to and including birth?

Hard question. Best I got is.....Satan if he's available.

LOL. No, not what the sheeples want, what the democratic leadership wants. After that first vote, no one, but no one, is getting selected unless the establishment wants them to be. They want someone who will be beholden to them and will do what their backers want, but is middle of the road enough to get elected.

DNC changed their rules regarding the Super Delegates as a result of the Sanders/Clinton negotiations. 2/3 of the delegates have to support the winner of the popular vote for each state. The remaining 1/3 are free to vote as they please.

The democrats seem to be hoping for an economic recession to help them defeat Trump. The Russia Hoax didn't work, the Stormy Daniels affair didn't work, The Kavanaugh lies didn't work, The Trump's a crossburning racist Hitler comparison didn't work, the only thing that has any remote chance of working is an economic downturn. But I question why anyone would vote democrat since they've already pledged to raise your taxes and shove this green new deal through which could bankrupt us all. The democrat/antifa/Jihad Squad party is dangerous and should be dealt with. Time to stop playing games.

I didn't see that. The change I saw was that they will not vote on the first ballot unless there is a clear winner with 50% plus 1 vote by the pledged delegates. The likelihood of that with a broad field is slim. Superdelegates make up 16% of the delegates and would likely be the deciding factor on a second vote where every delegate is released from their pledge. The party will still be in control without a clear winner going into the convention, but the states will be in control on the first ballot.

Many superdelegates were angered by the move, and they point out that they are not pledged. However, while they claim to be independent thinkers, they know which side their toast is buttered on. DNC picks the winner on a second ballot.
