I ran across this. STAT has a very liberal editorial board, so liberal that they were among the first to propose immediate worldwide distribution of the Covid vaccine based upon what could only be described as a medical justice formula. This would have given priority to historically underserved parts of the world like Africa even though they were demonstrably better off in the case of Covid deaths and hospitalizations.
This is an interesting take here on their built in perception of how much an American population might know about the differences in the three available vaccines. I don't think that anyone would perceive the J&J vaccine as "inferior" unless they were told so. In fact, the article admits that it probably isn't inferior, and even if it were, it would be in the ability to hold off minor symptoms. So is this a problem only in the liberal mind, or is there an actual preference in the minds of POC?
I get that many are in underserved communities and that there is an historical problem to overcome. This however, seems like overthinking it to the max.
In some communities, using only one type of vaccine when three are available may create suspicion, especially when that vaccine is wrongly perceived as second-class.
