Covid is right here, and it's getting bad fast.

The fact that all the variants are coming from other countries indicate that is an additional factor at play in the mutations. Whether it be environment, diet, medications, genetic makeup, something else...I have no idea. But if it was as simple as coming from virus reproduction, we would have probably had variants come from here.

As for herd immunity, I think we're at some level of that now. Between the vaccinated and people with natural immunity, the numbers say approximately 85% of Americans have some level of immunity. Many think 80% is the magic number.

But as already stated, additional variants that the vaccine (or natural immunity) are less effective against could throw a monkey wrench into all this.

The United States population is equivalent to 4.25% of the total world population.

i think that its just that there are a lot more people in the rest of the world and a lot more cases. Now, the numbers show the US having more cases than say, India, but that's total BS, the US numbers look higher because we test a lot more (and the Liberals made sure it was advantageou$ to report cases). I guarantee you there is little to no testing in the slums of India where millions live, but a heck of of a lot of cases there. You also have a lot of countries that wouldn't report the correct numbers even if it was good for them. (China) Remember Italy early on?

Also, if the Variant's here didn't have an advantage over Delta, then they would die off quickly, while Delta was raging. So lots of reasons.

Or, for the conspiracy theory bunch, China has reason to let the new variants they have created out in different parts of the world, so it doesn't reflect back on them like the original did. Just a plane flight, release an aerosol in a crowded place and fly back.

I try not to wear the tin foil hat, I really do. But there's so many logical reasons why China would have intentionally created and even released this virus, it just makes too much sense.

Now showing at .57. Not what I want to see.

Maybe, maybe not. It's saying that the number of new cases is still declining at 50% per <whatever the time unit is>, the decline is just slowing a little. As the rate gets lower, I would expect the decline to flatten out back close to 1.0 as the cases coming in from elsewhere and a few local cases begin to dominate the stats. Last I say, the ICU usage percentage is finally beginning to drop from the upper 90% which is a very good thing as well.
