I plan on it. It's too much time invested to junk it. I appreciate the encouragement. ;D

Re: Word Count - The First Grey Colson Novel (title withheld)

Thanks again 8) The middle was a little struggle. Almost like a speed bump, but it seems to be falling into place and the story line has picked up speed. It's almost strange how it worked out that way. I've done more reading about the proper method to construct the story, but I'm too far in the process to start that now. However I will if there is ever a second Grey Colson novel.

Thanks for reading :thumbsup :DN

When you get the first draft completed, I'll be ready to proofread it.

Deal :DN

It's really hard to say if it's going to be the right kind of material or not. I was leafing through the last Reacher novel last night and seeing a littl more detail than I go into. But then I read that too much detail can distract the reader.

Oh well, forward we go anyway. Thanks, Fox

Re: Word Count - The First Grey Colson Novel (title withheld)

Too much detail will bore the reader. It does me. What I'll do is highlite what I think should be deleted in one color and use another color to highlite the grammatical errors with margin notes on suggested changes. If you're doing it in MS Word, it will be real easy to edit while I proofread.

I make my book club read Child (I love him, they do it cause I insist ;) ) That is their biggest complaint regarding his books. They enjoy the storyline, but it gets so wordy and detailed it distracts them. I do not mind either way. I just love to read.

That's good to know. I thought it was just me. But Child's work is probably the main motivation that got me started. I'm not trying to copy his character, that wouldn't work for me. Colson is close in many ways, but is very different in others. I want him to be different. IMHO, it would be very difficult to create a charcter more unique than Reacher.

This is just a little tid-bit of information from my research for the book that I found a little interesting. You know me, I'm easily amused. :))

This is a photo of Bertha Street in Key West, Florida....

This would be mile marker "0" and the end of State Route A1A, otherwise known as Atlantic 1 Alternate. It's actually quite intersting research. From the nothern point of A1A in Nassau County to this remote end exceeds 500 miles.

Word Count Total

Finally! That 50 to 60 thousand was kind of tough and slow going, but it feels good to be this far. PTL! I also FINALLY have the rest of the story in my head....the little hook at the end and a little revelation in this last section. :Ninja

Re: Word Count - The First Grey Colson Novel (title withheld)

This probably sounds terrible, but there's this place on A1A in Daytona that we laugh about every year when we drive by. It's been a joke with us forever. When BIL and SIL join us every few years, BIL and I joke about going in there. I couldn't resist a mention of it in the book, but at some point I have to make them aware of it and get their blessing.

Mrs. Reacher said she doesn't mind me talking to them, but she insists on going with me. I can't imagine why :laugh
