Why not say you disagree and give a reason why? Saying his statement is "idiotic" isn't any better than calling it "retarded." Both are insultive. It's fine to disagree, but it should be done without insulting someone. Isn't it better to debate with intellect rather than hurl insults?
 
While I don't agree with BBG's wording, is JMT's post any less offensive? Ok, so he didn't call "spiritual but not religious" people retarded but he was rather brutal in his described perception of them. I know quite a few people who describe themselves that way and not a one of them is the arrogant, self-righteous a$$ that JMT describes.
 
Most of the people I know who describe themselves as "spiritual but not religious" have either a) had a bad experience with organized religion, and/or 2) not been exposed to the pure truth of the beauty of the gospel and the love of Christ. Most of the people I know like this also want to believe in a higher power, if you will, but aren't comfortable with the idea of getting involved with organized religion.
