What are you cooking in case the power goes out?

Blondie

Don't blame me, I voted for the other guy!
I am making spaghetti tonight. There will probably be enough for lunch tomorrow too. I am cooking some beans to put in the fridge and will have to figure out a way to warm them up if the power goes off. I will be making some biscuits after while. I have a griddle I can run off the generator, so I can fry some meat.

I have a chocolate cake and a vanilla cake baking now. I have cookie dough made up to make cookies when the cakes are done. Seems like I am spending today cooking just in case we lose power. We are total electric, so I have to plan ahead when we have bad storms.

Our house is total electric. Last time it happened, we cooked on the wood stove. Slow but sure!

I know where I can cook, just haven't decided the what's yet. The last snow storm I made homemade bread and pretzels. This past weekend we made funnel cakes. We'll see what fun this brings.

We're totally electric as well. If we do lose power, we have the grill for food. We can do meats, veggies, etc. on that. We have plenty to eat. The only thing I need to pick up is a rotisserie chicken, which I'll get when I pick up my antibiotic this afternoon. I think we're set!

I have a gas stove so we should be OK. Gonna miss the microwave though. I guess a long extension cord and my generator and I will be able to use it! LOL! Gotta go get some gas today for it though.

We have a gas stove, so we're okay to cook. But I'm not wanting to hand wash dishes soooo.... I have red beans and rice, white chili, tonight I'm making a big pot of spaghetti and meatballs. Tomorrow I'm going to make pinto beans in the crock pot and maybe extra rice. This morning I went to Aldi and got canned pasts, several soups, canned chicken, and some tuna. Got extra milk, too. At Kroger I got an extra loaf of bread (two weeks ago I couldn't get my bread for a week!) and sandwich meat. I think we are good to go!

Please, PLEASE don't let my power to out!!!!!

OMG! I just realized! If the power goes out, that means I'LL HAVE NO COFFEE!!! Srsly, sh*t just got real.

My gift today was a new fancy looking FRENCH PRESS! I laughed so hard when I opened it. I love, love, love my husband!!! :cheer1 :cheer1 :cheer1 :cheer1 :cheer1 :cheer1 :cheer1

I'm wondering how I'm supposed to warm up what I am cooking if the power goes out. Hubby said our generator probably won't pull the microwave.

Cooking? I got a new box of Cheez-It Pepper Jack so I'll survive on carbs.

They clearly are not doing it right. I have had French Presses and various on the stove coffee makers over the years and I do not have that issue. It is definitely stronger and "thicker" but I have never had grounds and I have been using them since I was 5.

It is Frieling. I will use it in the morning to get a feel for it and let you know.

EDIT: I was afraid I jinxed myself by saying I never have had coffee grounds in my cup from a French Press so I went ahead and made a cup. LOL None at all. Woohoo. I am set if I have no power, just have to boil some water on the fire. :cheer1 :cheer1 :cheer1

Now, never worry me about coffee again! :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh
