TX police arrest 14yr old Muslim schoolboy for suspected bomb.
A 7th grader brought a clock he made at home to school to show his teacher.
However, another teacher, afraid the clock was bomb, reported the boy, who was handcuffed and taken away by the Irving, TX police.
It was later announced that the bomb was indeed a homemade clock and that no charges would be filed.
The Irving, TX police chief said in a news conference that, due to the times, kids can no longer bring things like this to school.
Obama has offered to let the kid bring his "neat" clock to the White House.
Other political piranha have also taken their but publicity bite out of this story, including the Anti-Christ....I mean Hillary.

A few things that bother me about this whole fiasco.
1. A school full of learned people and they can't tell a bomb from a clock?
2. Would the teacher have been as scared if it was Billy WASP that brought the clock to school.
3. If a kid can't bring his homemade clock to show his science teacher at school, then should we just shut down schools?
4. Would Obama be inviting Billy WASP to the White House?
5. How much do you think the school district will settle the lawsuit for?

Obama has no business getting involved is stuff like this. All it does is stir people up.

Yep, I can see some lawsuits coming up.

What would be nice, but won't happen, is it opens up an honest discussion on how paranoid society (and govn't) have made school officials. I mean, I can see someone being cautious with unusual items being brought into the school.

But really ... they went overboard.

The kid's face in the picture when he has the handcuffs on makes me feel terrible for him. I think its cool the president invited him to the White House. The only people who will be stirred up about it are those who are looking for a reason to be stirred up.

Frankly, I'm tired of seeing stories of kids being handcuffed at school for ridiculous reasons. If anything, that's what stirs me up the most.

It's election year, can't let a photo op pass without maximizing the political divide for the Dems.

I think my questions are legitimate for both the school and the president, about whether either would have happened if it had been Billy WASP.

I will admit that my dislike for Obama and my personal beliefs about his (Diva, please skip this next word) agenda, make me doubt everything he does.
I also admit that is not fair, after all, no one is perfect and even a bad person has to screw up and do something nice, even by mistake, but there it is.

I really can't see a local school issue being of any interest or business for our President, he has much more important issues to worry about. Let's tackle ISIS, $18T debt, illegal immigration, and an economy being propped up for numbers sake...then we can worry about a 14 year old boy with a clock.

This was a perfect example of overreaction. People are paranoid and seeing bombs and terrorism everywhere.

I saw no reason to handcuff the kid. Yes, the English teacher panicked and saw a bomb, but I did not understand why the kit was handcuffed or suspended. The kid already showed it to another teacher who had suggested he not show it around, so it clearly wasn't terrorism.

I hate to pull the race card, but I seriously wonder if this overreaction would have happened if he had a name that wasn't Mohammed?

I also don't mind Obama mentioning this. It takes no time away from anything, and this isn't a questionable case. He is not muddying the waters by commenting here the way he has done in some other cases.

Another case of people jumping on the bandwagon with all the Tweets and such.

That said it is once again ridiculous behavior by a school. This is not even zero tolerance and a fake gun, a poptart that looks like a gun, or a butter knife. This is a kid that is interested in robotics and was known for that and wanted to continue for that to be his niche in high school and brought a clock. For the love of all things I really do think the dad is right and that if it were not for his name he would not have been arrested, hand cuffed and making news. I agree with Jenilyn and his face. I worry so much about my nephews and people that think ALL muslims are bad muslims and what happens when it is not just an arrest, but an over zealous person that harms an innocent. Anyone that thinks that this has not made an impression on this child and not a good one is mistaken. Stuff like that changes people. He has already said he wants to change schools and is not making things and bring them in any more. ::( I just hate we have come to a point in society that everyone is a threat. Even a child trying to show off a project in school.

While Obama does have many more things to concern himself with, 5 minutes with a kid that was just wrongly accused of something heinous is not going to make a difference to the country, but might make a difference to this kid. :dunno

(and no I do not think Billy would have been arrested, in the news, or invited to the white house...there is a link to an article in the comments that shows other incidents that we have not even heard of. )

They showed the "clock" on the news, and all I'm saying is don't judge the teacher until you have seen it.

I still maintain Obama should have stayed out of this. All his involvement does is to stir up more trouble and racial divide.

Right. Now tell me that doesn't look like every TV bomb ever used where they have to decide which wire to cut. Like the cops said, this isn't the kind of thing anyone needs to be carrying around a school.

Now I will say that the handcuffs and stuff were over the top, after all by then they knew it wasn't a bomb.

I still say if a 7th grader built it and a school full of learned adults can't figure out what it is, especially with the help of the kid, then that's where the problem starts.
If a teacher already saw the clock, then why in the heck didn't the teacher take it and deliver it to whatever teacher the kid brought it in to show to.

Heck, the truth is, our school systems are so screwed up that it's a wonder the kids learn anything nowadays.

GET OFF MY LAWN!

I did see it on the news page. Yes, it is odd looking, if the kid hid it in his backpack, locker, etc. Not so much to me when he brought it to the teacher and said see the clock I built! :dunno But that is just me. And even if the clock was a concern, how they treated him still seems wrong. :(

Not sure about Texas, but if a kid were arrested in Paulding it would require he be handcuffed.

I don't see the need for arrest after the truth was known, but I don't blame the teacher for being suspicious and calling for help.

I understood this morning that he was arrested/suspended from school. Police discovered it really was just a clock. Police released him. Suspension from school still stood and that his continued suspension from school was the issue.

If it were a white kid with an Anglo-Saxon name, there would be nothing said by Obama nor would there be an invitation to the WH.
