The Official Dallas Hwy Caucus and Primary Thread

From FOX

It's a little after 8pm Eastern, and former President Donald Trump has a commanding lead according to the Fox News Decision Desk as doors are closing in Iowa's Republican caucus meetings.

He has a deep bond with GOP voters; particularly rural Americans. Governor Ron DeSantis and former Governor Nikki Haley are locked in a tight battle for second place.

DeSantis made a push for Evangelical Christians, but so far his support with that group is only slightly greater than with non-evangelicals.

Meanwhile, Haley's base is more urban. And she carries four-in-ten voters who say they are "non-MAGA."

Ramaswamy is running further behind.

Regardless of what polls say, calling a state before almost anyone has had a chance to vote is wrong. People have smartphones and likely see these calls which could impact voting.

They called it and had info before anyone had voted. CNN actually called it entrance voting. They asked questions as people were entering the caucus sites.
I haven't sen anyone call it before the voting was over. There were op-eds, but I've seen no official calls until after the polls closed.

This is the last poling done. Pretty dang close so far. Edit- move the numbers one column to the left. Didn't format correctly.

What time does the 2024 Iowa caucus end?

The caucuses are set to begin at 7 p.m. CT and will likely conclude within an hour, when vote counting will commence. But timing differences are expected between the more than 1,600 precincts throughout the state that vary in size.

On CNN, the precinct where they have people onsite hadn't voted as of about 15 minutes ago yet CNN called the race shortly after 8PM.

Haley and DeSantis running neck and neck, might be awhile before we know which takes second.
