Because this is a hot topic and could be pivotal in the race for the GOP nomination.

Making a sticky for now, but will probably unstick soon. The politics page is already pretty cluttered.

Latest polls still show Trump with a strong lead, contest for second between DeSantis and Haley. Pools show the later two either tied or Haley a bit ahead.

There's considerable speculation that Haley will easily win 2nd place and even cut into Trump's lead a bit. But well see, and hopefully have results tonight.

This should give us some indication of the accuracy of the polls.

Speaking of which, it probably makes sense to unstick the following:

Rick Perry
Pence
Scott
RFK Jr (?)
Christie

And maybe The Hate from the Left since it hasn't had a post in over 6 months.
Who??

I mean, good point. I'll unstick at least some of those.

It should be noted that Iowa is getting a major cold snap. How this will affect the vote is anyone's guess.

It's currently 0 degrees actual temp in Iowa right now. The wind chill makes it feel like -18. The low tonight will be -18 with wind chills of -35. Dayum that's cold.

Pretty good article. This could be DeSantis' last chance to get his campaign in gear; if he does at least finish with a strong second, he's probably done for this time around.

But hey, Trump came back after losing a primary and won. Nixon came back as well. So if this one doesn't work out, maybe 2028 will.

DeSantis bet his entire campaign on Iowa. Will the gamble pay off?

I was just about to mention that. Trump wasn't the leader in 2016 and he ended up winning so we really have no idea what's going to happen just yet. All speculation and hearsay.

Every one of them will leave Iowa with delegates. The question is how many delegates each will receive. There's no reason for Trump, DeSantis, and Haley to drop out of the race after this caucus.

I agree it's too soon to drop out, but without a strong finish tonight it will be hard for DeSantis to recover.

That he answered as he did in the tweet that was posted shows that he knows he's in trouble.

It all comes down to how many delegates you can win throughout the primaries. There are a total of 2,429 Republican delegates around the country, 40 of them in Iowa. Candidates win delegates based on the percentage of votes they receive in Iowa. If a candidate gets 33% of the votes, he or she gets 13 delegates. 1,215 delegates are needed to win the nomination.
