Yes, Herschel was a flawed candidate. He doesn't speak well and he brought baggage to the race.
The Democrats are flat beating us right now. They have gobs of money from people and groups who are out to see the death of Capitalism, they do dirty campaigning better than anyone and they have most of the media as their allies. Add to that, they have minorities and young voters wrapped up in the ideals of Socialism.
I'm not sure how we're going to get out of this.
And I know this will rattle some of you, but the Trump hate that has grown in the GOP is playing right into their hands. Look, I get it. Trump is a loudmouth who doesn't know when to shut up. And he does too much bashing of other Republicans himself. But when Republicans start opening bashing Trump and pulling back support for candidates just because they were Trump endorsed, the Democrats win from it.
The GOP didn't support Herschel like they should have. I was proud to see Kemp get behind him, but Duncan and other Republicans who were publicly critical of Herschel were completely out of line and they did some damage. They could have at least waited until the election was over. Until the GOP can unite, we are screwed. And don't blame it on Trump, the GOP was in shambles long before Trump ran. If anything, he borught some order and direction to the party. But the old heads in the GOP establishment are still rotten. Mitch McConnell is a prime example of what is wrong with the party.
