Snow Accumulation Predictions

I sure hope the teachers don't waste that time with movies and such. If kids are going to be missing class that week fine, they can take the work with them or figure out another way to make it up. Why should the kids that do show up be held back because of those that don't? Surely that's just a bad rumor.

Because they feel they have to be lenient with people who had planned and paid for vacations. The schedule was posted for a year and people made plans.

I agree with you totally. Just telling you what I am being told.

So they can excuse the absence and allow the kids time to make up the work. Absolutely no reason not to still teach the kids that do show up.

My daughter says this is what she is being told by her teachers.

Now, my daughter may also be wanting to get me to let her stay home that week. That is entirely possible. I told her I would be checking with the school before I made any decisions about that week.

We don't have anything planned, but why send her to school and pay lunch money for them to basically babysit my child when she can stay home and do the exact same thing here? I plan to make a phone call the week before and ask what they have planned for the students that week.

If you don't have plans for the week and her job at that point in her life is to go to school what are you teaching her by letting her stay out that week?

I know where my kids will be that week.

I can't argue with that. It just makes me angry if I send them, and they don't do any teaching. They should do more than show them movies.

I agree but I'm not on much higher moral ground to fight from if my kid isn't even there, you know?

This is true.

I think the BOE needs some phone calls and they need to be questioned about the agenda for that week, and how they will be handling these absences.

I'd verify the info from the teacher before I'd be contacting the BOE.
