Shame on Romney and the GOP

Problem is the press won't talk about these issues. They are in love with Trump. They didn't listen to Rubio until he started using Trump tactics and then they only focus on that. How else is the public supposed to find out about the real Trump?
The media was not in love with Trump early on but has accepted him as the front runner.
I supported Romney/Ryan in 2012. I was actually much more motivated then than I had been for McCain in 2008. :)sick:) Having said that, I was disappointed in Romney's speech today. I actually agree with him on almost all points, but this is too little, too late.

If this is how "he" feels, where was this speech six months ago? It may have made a difference then, before the primaries, although I doubt it. Again, I think he would have been a good president, but the fact remains....he LOST. His policies, beliefs, desires, etc. did not resonate with enough of the American people.

In addition, what did he offer us today? More divisiveness. He said he would not run. He offered no endorsement for another candidate. He gave us NO viable solutions - he just said we should not vote for the leader.

I do not believe Trump is the answer for America, but I respect our country and it's election process enough to deal with it if he becomes the nominee. And I will not support manipulation by the establishment to find a back door to the White House when everything they've offered us since 2008 has failed.

Agree 100%. The fact is we cannot predict what any candidate will do once in office but let the process run its course without manipulation (ok, minimal and discreet manipulation). When insider trading is discovered in the trading of securities there are harsh consequences, the same can be said towards our election process. The people will not stand for it. If Trump is overthrown by any means other than outright losing to another candidate the GOP is done, they're support will dwindle and voters will move more towards Libertarian or Democratic (if you can't beat'em you may as well get some free stuff as a consolation prize).

Here's my prediction and only time will tell. Trump supporters will be even more furious and if they had any doubt about showing up on election day, it will make them determined now. I heard a guy (caller) on Rush Limbaugh just 5 minutes ago. He supports Cruz and he's also one of these people who said if Trump is nominated, he'd vote for Hitlery. He went on to say that what the GOP has done, via Mitt Romney, has convinced him to GO OUT OF HIS WAY to vote Trump if he's the nominee.

Like J-Man said, I'm good with whoever of the top three they nominate, but I'm not good with down right dirty tricks and manipulation of the voters. Screw them all and feed them butter beans!

I was a Romney supporter in 2012 and think he would have done a great job as President. Personally, I don't think he's following the GOP establishment on this one. I think he's gone rogue and is going to announce an independent run. Sadly, if he does this, Hillary will win the election.

That is the stupidest thing I've seen all election season. Romney, the face of the GOPe telling Trump's voters what idiots they are for supporting him. Beltway Republicans are completely clueless. What we are witnessing may very well be the end of the current Republican Party.

You know, people have used the term, "end of the republican party", occasionally over the past few years. I beginning to wonder if that's not such a bad thing. And the crazy thing about it is, there is a solution in my opinion. Term limits.

And I repeat myself :

Let it burn... scatter the stones.... salt the earth where it stood.

The party left me, I did not leave the party...

I am a fiscally Conservative Libertarian.

The apple cart needs an upset.

I want so hard to agree.

But the real fallout of this would be the Democrats winning everything. It truly sucks!

I'm torn on term limits. As Milton Friedman said, "It's all well and good to elect the right people to office, but it is more important to make it beneficial for the wrong people to do the right thing". On one hand, a "bad" actor with lots of money would get the boot , but that also applies to a good guy. It is a non discriminatory solution. I would rather try to make it less beneficial for the Oligarchs to purchase governments by getting the government out of private business. If the elected officials had to pay more attention to their home folks and less to K street for their living, that would be better for all involved. Of course, if recent history is any indication, the voting public is wholly unqualified to elect a government in the first place.

Well, maybe for a short while. I'm afraid we are left with the choice of once again enabling the Republican Party and getting Democrats, idiots, and/or Rinos indefinitely, or stopping it here and trying to build a Freedom party in the mold of Goldwater and Reagan from the ashes. That was the root of my tirade on the other thread, and why if Trump is the guy on the ballot in November I will probably vote for Gary Johnson.

Have you guys considered that this Romney thing could be part of the ploy to elect Trump?

Actually I have. Nothing in politics is what it actually appears to be.....take nothing for face value.

Now we have a complete GOP circus. Reports today are that all three remaining candidates refuse to confirm whether they now will support the GOP nominee if not them. This is one of the biggest circle jerks I've ever seen and is a complete embarrassment to long time Republican supporters like myself. I honest don't think they (meaning the GOP) deserve to win in November. To me it is no longer about Hillary but about whether I should continue to give my support (and money) to the Republican party. It just amazes me how they continually screw up when they finally have the opportunity to accomplish something.

In large part you can blame Trump. He's not any better than a spoiled middle-school aged brat on the playground when he doesn't get his way. I also view him as a bully.
