SCOTUS this week

From reading it appears the student debt relief and affirmative action as related to college admissions are in trouble. I think the abolition of both of these would be good for the country. The Colorado same sex law seems absolute BS and a huge over reach of local government mandating private business practices. I hope the court rules in favor of the plaintiff. The NC federal election case seems to be the age old question of states rights vs. federal rights. I usually side with the states as long as their laws do not conflict with the U.S. Constitution. Over all judging from the courts leaning during arguments and apparent authors of the yet to come majority opinions it looks good for conservative values. Of course the chief justice who has yet to give opinions on some cases is not the conservative he portrayed at his appointment so anything is possible if he writes the majority opinion. Interesting stuff.

Yeah. While I sorta like the ruling, I see abuses coming
Age discrimination is against the law, yet it happens more frequently than most people know. Yet, who defended those over 40 who were qualified for the position or promotion but were passed up because of their age? Nobody. Yet, when an unqualified black candidate isn't hired and throws the race card down, all the liberal organizations support that person. With the removal of affirmative action, do you think that will change? Do you think it will stop those like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton from threatening to have blacks boycott their businesses, forcing them to hire more blacks and give a few million to these two exporters organizations?

I don't think many businesses in 2023 hire with the thought of: "Oh, I better make sure I am supporting affirmative action."

At this point, you are lucky when a person who applied to the job actually shows up once they are offered the position. I will take any reliable, hard worker, no matter their ethnicity. Sort of that content of character thing.
