Republican Presidential Candidates

I could not agree more, LTD, about the GOP needing to shut up on social issues. I am a socon, but that is not the primary requirement for a President to have.

Mei Lan, I hit like, but I'm not sure what a "socon" is (unless it's "socially conservative", then I got it).

It is. You can hit unlike if you find you disagree with this now that you know what it means. ;)

I also agree that the GOP needs to tone it down about the social issues. I am pro life and all that; but there's a better way to fight the battle.

Not only that - aside from executive orders vis a vis military abortions being paid for by taxpayer dollars, etc., how much does a President actually have to do with social issues? Yes, he appoints SCOTUS justices, but if the recent past is any indication, hey, no need to have a Democrat majority, because the GOP will just pass your nominees lickety-split if you're a Democrat President. But aside from that? I don't think so. His business is governing the country. And as the columnist Cal Thomas said one time, Jesus ain't gonna be stepping off Air Force One, and we Christians need to stop looking to the President/politicians as the cure for what ails the country.

In reality, not that much. The SCOTUS nominations cycle, and they don't always turn out as expected either. There are a couple of justices on the court who were nominated by Republican presidents who have not been what we hoped for.
