Pediatric Emergency?

This is strictly just me, but if I had a sick kid (and I've had to take nephew before), I'd go to CHOA, even if I had to go all the way to Scottish Rite (if it were after hours of the Urgent Care). We've been to the Urgent Care near Town Center twice, and I believe there's one near the E/W Connector? I'm just weird that way. Don't trust anybody else...kids are different.

PS - That is one adorable leg. :love

What she said. The leg is major adorable!! Wishing you and BabyB healthy love!!!!!! :pray :love

They don't know what bit him, but they think it is staph setting in. I'm to take him to the pediatrician first thing tomorrow unless he wakes up with a fever or red lines start to spread then we are to the ER ASAP. I'm to put warm compresses and neosporin on it throughout the night. By the time she called me back it started draining fluid. :(

:(
I just went through all that with my son. I will pray it is not staph. :pray
Oh no. I'm sorry, SD. How did it happen, and how did you find out it was staph? I'm a nervous wreck. But so far it's the same and he's sleeping soundly. It doesn't seem to bother him.

Condensed version: (longer one is in the prayer thread and a couple others I think. :)) ) He stepped on a nail at work. Didn't think anything of it until the next morning and his foot was huge. Took him to doctors office, they immediately sent him to the hospital, 5 doctors later, shots and antibiotics they sent him home. Spread more while on all that, (it was a nasty staph) went back to the hospital for iv antibiotics. Called in a specialist and his orthopedist. Luckily it did not get into the bone, but it was a month of doctors visits and more antibiotics I have ever seen. He is better now. He just had his last visit about a week ago. He has to do exercises to work on his flexibility, because of it being swollen for so long. (Sort of like when you come out of a cast) we were very lucky though. They had us scared to death for a while.

Baby B's leg does not look like a cut. It does look like a bite. (I thought you were probably right on a spider, though not a scary poisonous one! )What made them think staph?

Praying for BabyB. Hopefully it will look much better in the morning and you won't even have to take him to the doctor. :love

She said because of it being hard, and progressively getting redder, then the fluid leaking. It was clear, watery fluid. It's hard to explain... The pic you posted for me was from around 5 when he was eating dinner. By 7 it was redder and inflamed. Then the fluid. I washed his leg with Dial, then held a warm compress on it for a bit then slathered it with neosporin. It looks better than it did, and there doesn't seem to be fluid leaking, which may be a bad thing. Idk. I'll go in again at midnight and check it again.

Thanks SD, that has made me feel a bit better. But she did say that it probably started as a bite... Who knows until tomorrow? It can't get here fast enough. :(

He seems fine, but his leg looks terrible. It looks like a boil or something has busted. I'm sorry if this is TMI. I'm on freak out mode and chugging coffee like crazy. I got up several times to check on hi and apply the compress, etc. the doc can't see him until 9:45!!! I'm going to go in a few to vote, then camp out in their office and hope they see him earlier. :(

Poor guy. It only seems to bother him when I touch it.

Not too much info. If it did bust that means it was trying to come out. That is much better than it staying in and spreading. I am glad he does not feel bothered! Mommy will rest once she sees the doctor. ;)

NOT staph. It's just a very nasty bug bite that he's having a severe reaction to. He does have to get antibiotic creams for it so it doesn't get infected. Woohoo! Bad thing is the other bite I that was a little mosquito bite is doing the same thing. :( But all is well!!!

We're waiting for his Rx.

It's great news that it's not staph, but I hope this means you won't have to go through this every time the sweet boy gets a bug bite.

Flying insects are terrible right now. There was apparently a big hatch a week or so ago; we're seeing swarms of them. I've fogged my yard twice in the last few days and they're still bad.

He's had bug bites before, but none have looked like this... That's why I freaked out. I hope we don't have to go this anymore with a bug bite either, lol.
