Dr John has been around this County a very long time, but is no longer practicing medicine. I have gotten to know him pretty good by attending Commissioner meetings and other County events. He is a great fellow and very easy to talk to.
But I have also met Paulette a few times and how she got elected is beyond me! Another politician with the personality of a dead fish. Very cold to anyone that cannot help her or has lots of money. She will not get my vote either.
I know Paulette as she is my friend. There is zero wrong with her personality, she is actually pretty smart. People hate her for whatever the reason is, which personally I could careless...but she is not dumb nor cold to anyone. She also did exactly everything she said she would do in the past 2 years in the House. I also could bring up something that I know about one of her challengers but I won't. If you knew Paulette, you'd understand but you don't...only hearsay. And yes, I know about her financial issues related to her business and of what she is doing about it to resolve it. But hey, no one cares about that other than bash her by listening to third party jerks who have an agenda and will do whatever they can to hurt her in any way possible or flat out lie.
And speaking of lies...Mason is way off base and is lying about Heath wanting to end the Hope Scholarship. That is completely false.
I'll agree that a lot of people are making assumptions about why she hasn't paid her taxes and Xerox. It could very well be she had a lot of uncollected receivables because a lot of her customers were not paying on time. It very well could have come down to making a decision on "Do I pay my employees for their work or do I pay the taxes?" I would have to say in a situation like this, you pay your employees first and try to make some arrangements about he taxes. A lot of people are concluding her business was thriving and everyone was paying her business on time, but she just decided to not pay her bills because she wants to take expensive vacations and own expensive things.
I have no idea how aggressively she's been working with the state and feds to resolve the tax issues, but you would think being a member of the state house and wanting to continue in that role, she's working aggressively to resolve them.
The truth of the matter is, if these problems are not resolved by the time of her hearing, she will most likely have her name removed from the ballot. For us in 19, that is not good at all as that leaves us with two very suspect candidates to choose from.
The problems she's facing today are much worse than the insurance and divorce issues that were brought up during her last campaign as these problems will most likely get her removed from the ballot.
What is very disappointing about this whole thing is, she knew these problems were serious. She didn't think very far ahead nor was she very concerned with the people of her district or the GOP as she should have been in this matter. She knew whether or not she had the financial means to clear this up before the deadline for filing candidacy. It does appear to me she was hoping this mess would remain hidden so her candidacy would not be challenged.
Because it's obvious she does not have the financial means to resolve these issues with the IRS, state, and Xerox; she should have announced she was not seeking re-election for personal reasons. This would have allowed someone who would be willing to represent the 19th that is more qualified than the other two candidates we now have to chose from.
I'm sorry Chris, but it does appear to me that Paulette was thinking more about keeping her seat in the House than the people of the 19th and the GOP.
Now it looks like one of the other two is going to be our next rep and they will give the GOP a black eye because they are indeed running as RINOs to get elected.
