I want to buy one of those mini handheld chainsaws for my husband's birthday.
I cannot ask Google because then ads for mini chainsaws will be all over our media.

I want to buy the best quality as we have lots of trees and branches.
I know nothing about power tools.
Tell me about the best brands or best places to shop...

Please help !!!
His birthday is Friday !!!

Look for this label, and you should be just fine:

Also, I have no idea about power tools... I just buy them from Home Depot and look for brands like DeWalt or Makita or Milwaukee. That being said, what's good enough for me, just might be a starting point for others. Enjoy the Birthday !

I have a DeWalt battery powered chainsaw. It's good for light duty stuff, smaller trees and branches, etc. I keep extra batteries charged up so it will last about 2 hours before all my batteries are dead.

But for larger stuff, especially if you'll be working for many hours, I'd stick with a gas powered Stihl or Husqvarna.

Good luck.

I have a gas powered Stihl for full size trees and limbs and a small 18v battery powered Ryobi for small trees and limbs, both work well for their purpose. Here’s a pic of the Ryobi (it was given to me, I didn’t purchase it myself):

I have the 18 volt Ryobi. I believe it's the 12" bar, so not the teeny one, but those are really limited. I would recommend you go with at least the 12" bar.

Ryobi is a value leader, their tools are solid but not really top end. Having said; mine has really impressed me. No, it's not the tool to clear a forrest with, but for trimming, cutting up that that fell, etc; it's perfect!

Milwaukee is generally regarded as being as good as it gets. DeWalt is usually good. Makita is solid.

Seems I recall your hubby works with his hands; I would suggest you find out what line of powertools he already has and stay with that battery platform. EX: If he uses Milwaukee 18 volt, stay with that.

I should also mention that these often come as kits that include battery and charger, or bare tool only. If you're husband has several of a certain brand of battery and you go with the same brand and battery platform, you can save some money by getting the bare tool.

This is a very important point at this juncture, that not withstanding, I've heard numerous people say that the DeWalt chain saws are really great. The 18v battery produces plenty of power and life to handle most yard chores.

Don't know about the small ones. I have a Stihl Farm Boss that I have owned over twenty five years no complaints. I do own several DeWalt battery tools and they have performed well on job sites. The 18 volt platfrom is obsolete and no longer supported but the 20 volt line is just as reliable.

Yes. I have three or four of the adapters and they work fine. I have had a lot of success with the old 18 volt line and I still have a few 18 volt batteries. You can buy after market batteries but quality control is not good. Some fit better than others not consistent.

Yep, I still have a bunch of the old 18 volt tools. Still quite good.

Great advice, I will have to snoop around the work van and see what brand he uses.
(he's bringing home a free rug from some rich person's house this afternoon, so I will have a good excuse.)

Thank you for all the recommendations !!!
(I just want to get something he can use for small branches and clearing brush.)

Which store is best for this ???

I assume Home Depot ???

:dunno:
Home Depot is usually good for most brands and is fairly exclusive for Ryobi. Amazon often has good prices on DeWalt. I think Lowes has DeWalt and Milwaukee, but not Ryobi. They carry their brand (Kobalt) and Flex, which are both good tools.

If going to Dalton, they have a DirecTools store in the Prime Mall. They are the factory store for TTI, who owns Ryobi, Milwaukee, Hart, and others. They also have great deals on vacuums and outdoor equipment. But, never know for sure what they will have available.
