Hmmm, so all Muslims are not terrorists? Who would have thought that?

I do see what the complaints are about them not taking them, but I can also see the reality of wanting to keep their people safe.
"The vast majority of Muslims aren’t terrorists, but in the contemporary world nearly all movements and
ideas that produce political terrorism are birthed in Islamic communities that house mostly peaceful people."

http://thefederalist.com/2015/11/16/the-crisis-is-islam/
I have not a clue to what your are trying to say or why you have a winking smiley. You do that a lot. Post an article, no thought of your own, and a winking smiley. Just say what you mean, it is much better and than no one will infer (and some time mistaken) what part you are trying to make a statement.
As for my post, the first sentence is fact, the second sentence is sarcasm based on posts that, "if they are Muslims, they are terrorists." (< NOT your posts) The last sentence is an agreement that while you can be compassionate for the refugees plight, you still have a job to keep your people safe. That means while I see that some are complaining about lack of empathy, sympathy, and whatever else, the job of the country is to keep their country safe, sometimes that requires doing things that are not popular. Including not letting refugees in to live there.
*I explained mine just in case you did not know what I meant.
That article (and the very specific passage quoted) conveys my opinion
on the matter rather nicely, thus no need for me to reinvent the wheel.
To each their own.
I personally see a message board as interaction between people. Our opinions, thoughts, beliefs. While many things covey my opinion of topics and others opinions, like this :smily-3: I still use my words to convey them and to interact with others. Otherwise all of us could spend the day just posting smiley's, pictures, and articles, and not real interaction, though those things might convey exactly what we are thinking. (Plus the fact I will read what you say, not always an article by someone else and their opinion. ;D )

I've grown weary of your constant nitpicking.

:neenerbutt
Sorry you feel that is nitpicking. It is honest.

As I posted elsewhere...I believe our government is incompetent enough for something like this to happen.
Of course they are. :duh:

I've been trying to decide which way I lean on this.

Do we try to isolate a certain religious / ethnic group? Is that a solution? Do we group the bad with the good? Is it ingrained in the religion, or in the people?

I have a hard time going against one of the founding principles of our country. But, I also do not have a solution to keep the bad folks "out".

I do know the government hasn't got a clue. They have either fostered the formation of many of these groups by training them and supplying arms/money, or generated volunteers because they've bombed the wrong innocents.

I have noticed that the "master minds" tend to be older, and the participants tend to be young enough to be idealistic. It's unfortunate the troops can't be swayed with a supply of Xbox and PlayStation games to occupy their time until they mature a bit. And learn that killing others isn't the answer.

All I know is that during WWII, we put all Japanese in internment camps and we did not have one problem with sabotage from those Japanese.
And...AND...there were plans for sabotage by Japanese living in the US, but we put a quick stop to that.

Sabotage from SOME of those Japanese. Not all of them had everything taken from them were guilty. They were innocent except for being Japanese. I also believe we did not allow some refugees in from Germany and sent them back. You know the outcome of that.
I still believe that if we can not 100% vet them, they can not come because we can not take a chance on an attack, but as a human it is hard to say go home just because of their religion.

Here is the breakdown of my caring.
1. My family
2. My friends
3. People I know and like
4. My country
5. Citizens of my country that are not trying to destroy my county
6. Citizens of my country that are trying to destroy my county
7. My country's allies and their people
8. Country's that mostly decent to my country and their people
9. The rest of the world's people who are not trying to harm my country or it's people
So the people who are refugeeing from these countries, countries that are not big fans of my country, are a long way down on my caring list.
Now, you can be one of those waaaay down on the list and still be high on the list.
Example: My wife, who is one of the citizens of my country that is trying to destroy my country, #6 on the caring list...but, she is also family, so gets to be in the #1 caring category.
Another example: You would normally fall into the last or #9 category, but you are either my friend or I know and like you, so you move up to #2 or #3.
I hate to be this way, but if you try and help or please all people, you are very quickly the one that needs help.
Bomb em all back to the stone age!!!

God help me, but I could almost say I HATE this woman! And, hate isn't an emotion I allow very often.

One of my favorite quotes and summations so far on the situation:

Not taking in Syrian refugees and closing our borders is not being mean or heartless. I lock my doors every night, not because I hate the people outside my house, but because I love the people inside my house.
