It's been one of the best passages in modern day traditional country music:

May the wind take your troubles away
May the wind take your troubles away
Both feet on the floor, two hands on the wheel,
May the wind take your troubles away
Trying to make it far enough, to the next time zone
Few and far between past the midnight hour
Never feel alone, you're really not alone

Switching it over to AM
Searching for a truer sound
Can't recall the call letters
Steel guitar and settle down

Catching an all-night station somewhere in Louisiana
It sounds like 1963, but for now it sounds like heaven
May the wind take your troubles away
May the wind take your troubles away
Both feet on the floor, two hands on the wheel,
May the wind take your troubles away.

I am a music freak but a cyber dummy. I would post but I don't know how to save and attach the videos.
Dana as for Ronny Dunn he is and has been the best male singer in Nashville for quite some time.
On the female side Martina McBride is the tops.
There are other good singers and some that get by on there looks but to be the best you have to out sing these two. IMO.

I agree! They're both amazing!
If I can figure out how to post a vid, you can too. I just go to youtube, pull up the video that I want. You should see an arrow in the top, right hand corner, press it. You should see the option, copy link, copy it, paste in thread. I always hit preview post just to make sure I did it right.
There may be an easier way, maybe someone will post, if so. :) Try it!

If you guys haven't checked out "Live at Daryl's House", you really should. So many different artists on there, there's something for everyone. Here's one more and I'll stop for a while, lol!

My dad'sfavorite music was Merle Haggard. He had his truck stacked with his CD's and played them so much he got my son as a teen liking them and still to theis day loves him too.
This song, he would have me play on the piano for him over and over and if friends came over he and mama had he would ask me to play it.

one of my daddys favorite and my brother who played in a band called Diamondback in the 80's would play this song. By the way my dad has his original Chevy, blue from the 60
s in the back yard and loves to "work on it".

Are the Good Times Really Over
Merle Haggard
I wish a buck was still silver
It was back when the country was strong
Back before Elvis, before Vietnam war came along
Before the Beatles and yesterday
When a man could still work and still would
Is the best of the free life behind us now
And are the good times really over for good?
And are we rolling downhill like a snowball headed for hell
With no kinda chance for the flag or the liberty bell?
Wish a Ford and a Chevy
Would still last ten years like they should
Is the best of the free life behind us now
And are the good times really over for good?
I wish coke was still cola
And a joint was a bad place to be
It was back before Nixon lied to us all on T.V
Before microwave ovens when a girl could still cook, and still would
Is the best of the free life behind us now
Are the good times really over for good?
Are we rolling downhill like a snowball headed for hell
With no kinda chance for the flag or the liberty bell
Wish a Ford and a Chevy
Would still last ten years like they should
Is the best of the free life behind us now
And are the good times really over for good?
Stop rolling downhill like a snowball headed for hell
Stand up for the flag and let's all ring the liberty bell
Let's make a Ford and a Chevy
That would still last ten years like they should
'Cause the best of the free life is still yet to come
And the good times ain't over for good

I was 5 years old when this came out I think. Was my first small record for my little plasic record player. I remember playing this over and over and dancing to it. I would take it with me to see my grandmother on a weekend when I stayed with them and she would put it on her really big stereo and we would dance together in the living room.

Merle Haggard is the greatest country music entertainer of all time. I love the George's (Jones and Strait), Hank, Cash, Waylon, Willie, Kris but Haggard is the best. He is the one they all want to be. He was a better singer than Kris or Willie. A better songwriter than Jones, Jennings or Strait. A better musician than Kris, Cash, Hank or Strait. I am a huge fan and was lucky enough to have seen him around 10-12 times live. The last time I saw him was about six months before he died in October of 2015 at the Buckhead Theater. He was thin and pale but he was still Haggard and played about an hour and a half. There are five truly great songwriters above the rest in in American folk/country. Bob Dylan, John Prine, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams and Townes Van Zandt. They are poets as well as musicians.

Stellavore, my cousin, Shawn Evans photographs the band's who play this genre of music. And he hangs out with a lot of them, Lamb of God in particular. He's under Shawn Evans and Shawn Evans Photography on FB. He's one of the coolest guys you'd ever meet, I'm partial, but it's the truth :) if, just by chance you communicate with him, mention Sherry. Dana is my middle name. Just thought you may be interested
