Lake Oconee crime - Warning: Graphic!

I'm Floored

Lover of BS!
I only heard about this today. It is horrifying!

Elderly man beheaded, wife may have been kidnapped

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ga. —

Police in central Georgia said they had very few clues as they investigated the decapitation of an elderly man and the disappearance of his wife. Deputies fear she might have been abducted from the couple's lakeside home.

Putnam County authorities say they were called to the home of Russell and Shirley Dermond, in the Reynolds Plantation community on Lake Oconee, around 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Sheriff Howard Sills said friends of the Dermonds who had gone to the house found a body believed to be that of 88-year-old Russell Dermond.

A law enforcement source told Channel 2 Action News on Wednesday that Dermond was beheaded and the head was not found at the crime scene.

I just can't even imagine! I'm praying for that sweet lady, that she is found safe, but it doesn't look favorable for her. What's crazy is there aren't even many leads. Very bizarre and heartbreaking!

Just crazy how there are no leads what-so-ever. Such a sad story. This sweet couple were married for 69 years I think I heard them say. I hope and pray the wife is ok, but from what they say, odds are not good. Such a tragic and sad story.

My money is on a family member, either one of the children or grandchildren. Very sad indeed.

Agreed. That's what I told my husband when this first broke on the news.

They got leads...they're just not telling us. As I said on the other site, absent a grandkid on meth whoccouldn't bring himself to kill Grandma, this smacks of mafia or drug cartel involvement. They have two living sons and a daughter...another son was murdered in 2000 in a drug deal gone bad.

Drug cartel from Mexico hired MS-13 to torture some kids recently in Minneapolis over $300K of missing drug money.

I disagree with the professional hit, but I could be wrong.
I say it was someone they knew, that had a major gripe or it was a total stranger, in which case this will happen again somewhere else.

I just remembered this to back up my cartel theory - two kids were tortured in Minneapolis last month by members of the MS-13 gang who had been hired by the Sinaloa cartel to find some missing drugs/drug money and to send a message.

The guy was beheaded and it has not been found yet. Not a crime of rage or passion. This is a professional hit, intended to send a big message to someone either in that neighborhood (of $$million$$ houses) or a family member. The head was probably delivered to the person who owes them money.

That's what I surmised as well. :gag:

Could be, if so it was done by one of these "new" crime organizations, what I like to call disorganized crime.
Shut the borders down, put the illegals on box cars and ship them out and you will cut the crime rate in half. (at least 30%)

I think this was a professional hit as well. Somebody in the family owes some very ruthless person or organization something very valuable. Decapitating the elderly man, taking the head with them, and taking the elderly woman as well was a strong message they wanted the money/drugs back or else the elderly woman would be dead as well. The message was also intended as, "none of your family or friends are safe. Everyone of them will be dead if we don't get back what we want. Just imagine the horrible things we are doing to the old lady now."

Somebody in the family most likely got themselves associated with the wrong people.

Agree, especially if there's a history or link with a family member and illegal activity. Absent that then it's a crime personal in nature, full of hate and anger, most likely a mentally unstable family member or one anticipating a large insurance policy or estate paycheck.

Absolutely NOT a professional hit. Hit men don't keep heads as souvenirs, they are macabre businessmen.

This was somebody who knew them and held a huge grudge, or it was some kind of sick sadistic psychopath. I guess the only way we will know is if he is caught or strikes again.

If it's a hit from a Mexican drug cartel, it will be very similar to this.

That is what a retired drug agent told WSB. I can't get the link to paste but go to wsbtv.com if you want to read what he said. Basically serial killer or drug cartel sending somebody a message.
