It\'s hot in here!!!

LisaC

I'm here to spin the moral compass.
For the second night in a row, our lab puppy "Angel" chewed through the a/c wires (and through the wires of the fido fence). Thank goodness for ceiling fans until the hubby gets home in a bit, but we may be having hot dogs for dinner..,

Tell her that in spite of what the President says, she cannot make herself any cooler by making you hotter.

Tell hubby to get some flexible conduit and put the wires in it.

If you mean that gray stuff that the wires used to be in, I think he tried that (or something similar), but I'll mention it again. ;D

Yes, but I bet he used the NM (Non Metallic). You can get it with metal inside of the gray plastic. It's called sealtite or liquidtite.

Conduit replaced, but how can you tell if the "board" is burned up - there's no power coming to the system?

The 24 volt control voltage comes from the furnace/air handler. Most have a control fuse in it. Looks like an automotive style fuse. Typically 3 amp.

No fuse in it. It's a Trane unit. He said there's power going into the board, but the led light isn't coming on

Did he check in the indoor unit for a fuse? That's where the control voltage comes from.

Ues, he said there's no fuse, but he found an extra transformer and is replacing it now.

That's probably what's wrong, it shorted the transformer when the wires were chewed.

To protect against that happening again; tell him to go to the auto parts tomorrow and get an in-line fuse holder and a 3 amp fuse. Put it in one side of the secondary (24 volt side) of the transformer.

Okay, the spare transformer doesn't work, but the hubby is going to pick up a new one tomorrow. We'll sweat it out for the night, but with all the fans running, we'll get through it. Thanks, GD!!!

I was sending how-to vibes across your internet connection.

Thanks! Now if the dog will just behave, we won't have this problem again.
