ISIS Camp Near Texas ? ? ?

Who said that they reported it first last year?
It is similar to the story they reported about 8 months ago about them in Mexico.
If it were true why did nothing come of the last report? Why is this one different? Again, because it might be on a different page, I am not stating that ISIS is not in Mexico, I think there are probably cells of them in many places. I am not discounting the fact they are out there, but hesitant to believe they have a training camp 8 miles from the US border for various reasons.

We have tens of thousands of criminal illegals pouring over the Southern border every single month,
why is it so hard for you to believe that ISIS is operating in what is essentially a totally lawless region ? ? ?

:dunno

:sigh: Because the sky is not falling. I am not saying ISIS is not there, not once. I have a hard time believing there is a training camp that the only people that know about it is JW. 8 months ago when they reported about them it was stated in the news there was an imminent threat. (I do believe imminent would imply soon/close/about to happen.) Nothing happened. I want people to be aware, but to cry wolf and nothing happens scares me, especially for the people of El Paso (right at the border.) When they hear that it was just a rumor, once again, what happens the next time when it is not? I do not want anyone to bury their head in the sand, and everyone needs to realize that ISIS is out there, but I think stories like these that are from one source and others just run with it are just sensational and headline grabbers. And I hope I am right and that is all it is.

I see what you mean. It is similar to the report that ISIS was in Juarez and was crossing the border back and forth. But the "new" news is that they are operating a camp. To be honest, the "Training Camp" may be some of the spin they are famous for, and you could be right, that the situation has not changes substantially since August. They may have a cell there that is training operatives, but not what you and I envision as a full fledged training camp like we see in the news operating in Yemen. I would be surprised if that were the case also.

Diva is the one who called it a "training camp."

Actually some of the articles I read did. I am not going back to find it, but if you Google I am sure you can. ;) (I will note that the original article HB posted did state "camps", and not "training camps.")

The Mexican liaisons nor DHS were present at this "special" meeting, but someone tells JW it is a meeting to see who is leaking info? The rest of the article is just reiterating the other couple of articles, correct? I was reading on my phone and it skips around once I make it bigger to read.

The last paragraph in that story is chilling, hb. in the ISIS book just published they say watch what happens when we use drones with IEDs attached. Great.

This has been a fear for a while. It's one big reason why the postal worker who landed a gyrocopter on the Capitol grounds is so fear inspiring. A small commercial "quad copter" like folks use to mount their GoPro camera could carry enough explosive to do about as much damage as the Boston bombs. A gyrocopter could carry enough to destroy a building.

What I really want to know, and I've been wondering this for a while now...who or what exactly makes Snopes any more credible than anything else? If I told you there was a terrorist camp in Amarillo, and Snopes said there wasn't...who would you believe? I live here. No, there's not, but if I was making that claim I could easily provide photos or videos.

How the hell do they know what is or isn't true and why should I put my trust in them? There are terror training camps in Texas. There are Muslim communities that are considered "no-go" areas for the local law enforcement.

My uncle likes to look all sorts of things up on there.

Snopes is not any better or worse than some, but when only one site is carrying a story and it can not be confirmed it is a good place to look to see if they have checked into the claim.
I would not believe you whether there was a story or not on Snopes. ;D

There's an islamic community center here that no one ever seems to be at. It's highly suspicious to me. It's a place for muslim youth to gather and play basketball and stuff.

Problem is...we don't have that many. No one goes there.

I actually know the guy who owns it, it's some doctor from the hospital. I don't really think there's anything going on, but it's a strange thing to have in town.

An IED is an improvised explosive device. Our "drones" (the military calls them UAVs) do not carry IEDs. There are two armed UAVs; the Predator that carries one Hellfire missile and the Raptor that carries two Hellfire missiles.

A guy in Rome was sentenced to 15 years, I think it was, for sending money to Hamas. He operated out of a mosque, which I think was just a small house wa.couplle of bedrooms.

They are referring to privately purchased drones (quad copter type or similar) designed to carry cameras and such. It is known that Muslum extremists have been working on lighter IED package and that some are in possession of C-4. It is certainly not out of the realm of possibility that they will successfully mate a drone with such an explosive device and try to deliver it to a high value target.

Another incident which I am certain did not go unnoticed by these scumbags was the idiot landing a gyrocopter on the Congressional lawn. If he had an explosive device, all he needed to do was fly 500 more feet.

Biohazard agents would be another possibility to be attached and say, flown over a football stadium (read that plot in a book recently).
