I don't advocate drinking, but "blue laws" were dumb then and are still dumb today. Freedom limiting legislation isn't always the cure for social illnesses.
You would consider drinking a social illness?

Excessive drinking or alcoholism. I have no problem with responsible drinking.

Hee hee ..... I am giving him a chance to correct his statement. I do not believe he means it like it came out and if he did... let the :Stick begin! :laugh

My statement did not say that *all* drinking was an illness. We all know that drinking *can* be an illness.

That's how I thought you meant it. ;)

This is the most current Planning and Zoning Map, the city is in grey
Ok, that one confirms the Chamber map. So the Orange areas on the Chamber map are Hiram City limits so a large number of businesses would be affected.
Thanks Winchester!

Woohoo! :DN Unionmom I can understand a map!! ;) Not meaning impaired there! :laugh

(Though the actual city limits are still odd!)

Nobody has pointed out that Hiram will vote on this an entire year before Paulding County (unless there is a special election for a death or a resignation). This is a HUGE benefit to them when it comes to new alcohol and grocery retail development.

That's why Hiram won all the retail to begin with. The development was originally to begin in Dallas years ago. There were some alcohol issues and the developments went to Hiram.

The entire City's history is built on a liberal liquor policy, even back in the 1800's.
