Hiram Voters to Weigh in on Sunday Sales

Is there any place within the Hiram City limits that would actually be effected?

Grocery...I don't think so, but convenience stores and maybe the bottle shop at Nebo? I am not sure how far the City limits extend.

There's a liquor store by Staples.

Is Staples still in city limits? I would have thought it was not, but I do not really have a clue. LOL Anyone know the city limits of Hiram?

It's by Staples and behind the Race Trak gas station. As far as I know, it's in the city limits.

I didn't think liquor stores would be covered. Just grocery, etc for beer and wine only. Is that wrong?

They have a Hiram address, so wouldn't they be included? If so, Wal Mart, Target and all the gas stations would be included too.

There's a lot that would be affected. At least two liquor stores as well as Wamart, Target, and various other retailers.

Just having a Hiram address, doesn't put you in the Hiram City Limits. I know they annexed some additional areas when all the retail development started. I just don't know how far they went. I'm not sure how much is in the City Limits. (although I know that Longhorn is in the city limits, so maybe at least that whole shopping center. not sure though.)

LOL I know where every liquor store is in both Hiram and Douglasville (I know..I am bad) my question was actual city limits. How far does the city limits extend? For some reason I was thinking it was a fairly small area, but as I said I have not a clue.

Madea is right that a Hiram address does not automatically equal City of Hiram but the City of Hiram is larger than many think. Much of the retail insanity of Hiram is in the City limits. Just remember, anywhere you've seen Hiram PD responding/working anything, it is City limits. That's Walmart, that's Target, that's a bunch of areas. When the whole thing came up about the Mayor using her husband's business to make purchases for the City police department the issue was raised that it was not the only gun dealer in the City ... the place in the Kmart shopping center was within City limits, too.

Okay this is going to drive me batty. I went to Hiram's website but can not find anything regarding the city limits. How do I find this information?

There is an interactive map on the Chamber of Commerce web page but there is no legend to go with it. If the orange color really does indicate City limits, what a cluster-bleep that is. Holy cow.

Thanks. I can not get it to come up right now. (I am sure it is me) so I will comment whenever I can see the cluster. ;)

I think the orange is the actual city limits  (You chose your words correctly for that mess) because two of my friends have Hiram addresses and neither of their streets were orange. I only knew those two off the top of my head, but that makes sense, right? So this vote will affect a whole lot of locations.
(and again Thanks!)

I don't advocate drinking, but "blue laws" were dumb then and are still dumb today. Freedom limiting legislation isn't always the cure for social illnesses.

You would consider drinking a social illness?
