Hey You Mechanic Types - Question

It may not have a drain pan, my old S-10 PU didn't have one when I changed the heater core on it. Man, what a pain.

Gary - Looking on the internet, there's mention of the drain being in the transmission hump. That's different!

That is very weird.

Sure is. You might wanna find a Mustang Forum to ask in

I found a Mustang forum and someone had asked the same question in 2009. Guess what? He never received an answer. :laugh

Nice

I betcha that's what the problem is. I also saw mention that there was a design defect that causes this.

If it is the condensate drain, hopefully it is still dripping a little water. Sometimes you can find it by lifting the car and putting a dry clean piece of paper on the ground below the firewall area. Crawl under after about a half hour and look for a drip. The line should be right above the drip.

If and when you find the tube, insert a piece of smaller diameter tubing or another semi-flexible material into the line and slowly push it up until it stops, and then work it back and forth. You should get very wet if you succeed in breaking the clog. Often times it is just smutz from leaves and pinestraw, or it's a dirt dauber.

I have to do this to my F-250 about once every 3 years. Good luck

I found a TSB from Ford about water leaks in Mustangs. This makes sense because the car was sitting outside in all that rain. I'm at Jen's so it was parked outside during the rain. At home, it's in the garage.

This is obviously a serious design flaw, but not something Ford put out as a recall, even though it can cause serious problems to the car's electrical system. The TSB covers 2006-2009 Mustangs.

So do I.
'bout what?

My Dad was the sort of person that figured a good wack could fix anything mechanical. My Mom used to say the equipment (car, dishwasher, TV) etc was so scared that it would start working again. Then, she would ask me to wait until he was away, then I was to fix whatever.
