Sucks the US didn't win, but honestly they looked like they were only half into the game. So now all y'all have to root for Costa Rica ;) They are the little team that beat all the giants. They are playing Holland on Saturday at 4pm EST. This is history for CR, never made it to this point. A little, peaceful country of 5million is going to whoop up on the Dutch!

When I get a chance, I will post photos of the joyful madness here from the past matches. I've never seen so much happiness.

My first pick for the overall winner is Argentina, my second is Brazil, but I will root for CR just because they're the little guy in the big arena. I can imagine how happy they are, not sure if it will EVER catch on in the U.S. mainly because of the traditional sports, but for the rest of the world it's a big deal.

Germany vs Brazil (the host country): 5 - 0 Germany in the first 25 minutes. So there is action in soccer after all. I was thinking about that too, it's not uncommon for MLB games to last 4 hours and end up with a score of 1-1 or 2-1, at least soccer is only 90 minutes plus the extra minutes.

Zero to zero!! What a game! /sarcasm
 
Germany won 1-0, they scored in extra time with no shootout needed. Argentina actually scored first, and during regulation time, but they ruled it as off-sides. I thought it was a fitting ending to the championship game when Argentina's Messi, who won the overall best player of the tournament, had a last chance opportunity with a free kick even though he didn't score. Germany was definitely the best team of the tournament with a total of 18 goals during the games. You have to admit, that's more than some baseball teams score in a month playing 3-4 games a week (and I love baseball).
 
I tried to watch the match, but the wife painted a chair and it was a toss up between watching the paint dry on the chair and soccer.

I kid, we went visiting, so I missed it.
