A church in Bainbridge, GA has tossed out a 92-year-old woman for not tithing or attending regularly during an illness that lasted several months.
Maybe it's just me, but I thought part of what churches did was help out and support people like this? I don't recall the story in the Bible where Jesus told the poor and sick people to go away so he could hang out with his more well-to-do buddies or the one where he used his carpentry skills to help the moneychangers in the temples to build better tables.
In any case, the Christian label on this church does not mean it is truly Christ-like. And, I wonder if the pastor who sent her this letter ever bothered to visit her in her home while she was sick for so long?
