Food stamps abuse

You can buy cakes at the store with them. I guess she assumed a wedding cake would be no different. :dunno

There's no telling how many billions of our dollars have been fraudulently spent with food stamp. Even though you couldn't buy certain things with them, there was ways around that.

They've been working on some of the abuse through use of a "debit card" system instead of actual bills. That has helped, but there are still ways around it.

There are some of the card programs that allow the user to get cash back at the store ... surely that is never abuse, right? LOL!

It is absolutely disgusting to me how many people have no shame and do nothing to improve their lot in life as they continue to leech off of the productive members of society. I almost lost it recently as I watched a family in a Dollar General buying a ton of chips and candy and each of them a 20oz bottle of soda and then whipping out the food stamp card to pay for it. Then they took their bag of pure crap out to their new minivan and off they went.

Put me in charge of that program and see how much other than the bare necessities they thieves can get. :rant

Not that I am okay with that kind of food (you know I am not!) but can you tell the difference between those cards? I see people buy stuff all the time that I would not (like cakes that I mentioned above) but was not sure if some of those cards are alimony, child support, or food stamps. I do think for food stamps that crap should be off limits, but for the others, while I do not like it, it is their choice on what they eat and drink. I really have no clue if the cards are different. Anyone?

I think (notice think) they only have one card for all the entitlements, and any other monies that go through the gooberment. That way no one has to "suffer" the embarrassment of having to get welfare/food stamps. I'm surprised they haven't done this with the WIC vouchers.

I have a cousin who knows how to work the system and abuses it to the limits. He and his wife, in their early 30's, are both capable of working full time jobs. It sickens me that they work odd jobs for under the table cash and continue to rip us all off!!! But concerning the Govt card they get, the card his wife has gets benefits (cash) from her sperm donor for her first child and food stamp (debit) amounts placed on it monthly.

After a quick online search there does appear to be a difference. It would make sense that there would be because there are restrictions on the EBT cards that are not on the debit cards. The EBT cards all have "EBT" on them, I believe. The child support cards do not.

She gets both on the same card? What state?

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves, don't ya know that cake is a neccesity for life?
It ranks right up near the top of the food pyramid with protein, veggies and water.

I believe she does, but I could be mistaken. North Carolina

I am sure there are some states that combine them. Heck, GA might do that but the best I can tell they do not. The "food stamps" cards have EBT on them but the child support ones appear to be a separately managed debit card program.

What's the EBT stand for? I have seen that before at the checkout line in the grocery store as one of the options to pay for. I get cash, credit, debit, and EBT options

Electronic Benefits Transfer

(I've learned so much tonight. :)) )

Me TOO.........SNAP

Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) is an electronic system that allows a recipient to authorize transfer of their government benefits from a Federal account to a retailer account to pay for products received. EBT is used in all 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam. State food stamp agencies work with contractors to procure their own EBT systems for delivery of Food Stamp and other state-administered benefit programs.
