That is great. I am a bit weirded out by bones, so I just buy boneless meat. :( It costs so much more and you are definite doing things right, and getting a better deal, by getting 3 meals out of one chicken.

My best girlfriend is the same way... if we invite her over to dinner I have to serve boneless chicken.
One time I jokingly told her that I have never seen a boneless chicken flopping around the farmyard.
She will decline any invitation that includes ribs as she cannot watch other people eat them... weirdo.

I still love that crazy gal like a sister... :)) :)) :))

This cracks me up! It's not as though people are actually EATING the BONES! :laugh They're just eating the MEAT off the bone.

Of course, I can't talk....friends may or may not have to make dishes with "corners" of them that don't have cheese. :whistle
I can't laugh at this... I do not eat ribs, either. They gross me out. I make them for MrB in the crock pot, but I don't eat them. I may have one, but I pull it off the bone and eat it with a fork. LOL

It's taken me years to get to this point, where I can handle a chicken and cook with it. LOL I still can't clean it out, though. I prefer Perdue chickens - the insides are in a bag so I can just pull it out and toss it.

I eat mine with a fork, too. The boys laugh at me all the time! But I don't mind seeing anybody else eat ribs.

And ALL raw meat grosses me out. It may be one of the reasons I don't really enjoy cooking. I made some chicken last night, and it was all I could do to get it prepared and into the pan. :sick

Y'all are crazy with that bone thing... what about fried chicken ? ? ?
One of the best meals I 've ever had was Ossobuco on a cruise ship... :love

I made Ossobuco once this year. O...M...G... it smelled horrible ... browning it, it smelled like a dead animal in the house.

The whole family LOVED it... but I probably will never make it again. The oil was hard to clean up and kept reminding me of the initial smell.

I think ordering out is the way to go on that one!

About the bone, and raw meat thing... I think we have had it too easy ... most have not slaughtered our own food, or seen it happen.

We go to the store...it is boxed and frozen, or Cryo packed, and in herbs ... we cut the packaging and slip it into a pan... whala... dinner. It would be interesting to see if 50 or 75 years ago women spoke about problems of touching raw meat to prepare dinner. I know SO MANY people who just can’t do it!

Maybe it is evolution so we become vegans; eating grasses, nuts, and seeds? :dunno

Raw meat don't bother me none... we eat plenty of venison and fresh trout in season.

I eat none of that batter fried. I do eat fish, tomato, squash, and onions. :)

In case anyone wants to know... I rocked my own socks with my soup! Woohoo! It was delish. Next time I'll use a tad bit less turmeric and thyme, and I'll make my own noodles. I served it up with hot skillet of fresh baked cheesy onion bread. Yum yum!

Yay you!! :goodjob Now I want some homemade chicken soup. :p

Hmm, bones never bothered me. And i watched my Grandma kill a chicken or two off their property when I was young.

Just a suggestion to throw out there. See if you can fine rice noodles, they can usually be found in the Oriental section at the grocery store. Mrs. Mac and I have taken quite the liking to them. They are much lighter than egg noodles, and it is sorta cool because they cook up translucent!

Love me some good chicken and rice soup! When I make mine, it usually ends up closer to stew consistency - which is fine by me!!

Sounds good Mrs. B. Your family is lucky to have you!

I have watched my Mother kill chickens and I've watched them do the flopping around thing afterwards. There was a big black kettle of water over a fire and the chickens were dunked in there and the feathers plucked, then inside the house to continue butchering and making ready for the freezer. She would never eat chicken. We raised our own beef, pork and chicken for eating and I am thankful b/c we had control over what we were eating.

I have seen the pigs killed, hung to gut and butcher. The beef and pork were taken to places where they processed it for us and then it was brought home to stock up the freezer.

Mrs B you are doing a great job in the kitchen! Keep it up girlie!
