Do gay people tithe?

LisaC

I'm here to spin the moral compass.
Okay, I couldn't resist - I know how you all love a good gay topic...

Actually, we may have talked about this before, but I've forgotten if we have or not. But, what are your thoughts on tithing? Do you do it? Do you tithe on your net salary or gross salary?

I would think you should be a member of a church to tithe. If they are, I would think everyone does. :thumbsup

Way too many people of all stripes who call themselves Christian don't bother to give. No idea about gays.

I tithe, and off the gross...I figure if I pay taxes on the gross, I should pay a tithe on the gross Many people tithe off the net, and that's fine with me. Whatever is a person's conviction should be the arbiter.

I want to get to the place where I can give WAY more than a tithe to charitable ministries. (Good ones, like Salvation Army or Samaritan's Purse.)

:ditto to all.

I am certain they do. In Churches that accept them. I, personally, would not attend a Church that didn't accept them. :sermon

I can't speak for gay people, so I have no idea. A person's tithing is usually a reflection of their relationship with God, so their giving would likely hinge on that.

And Lisa....if you need to come out of the closet, we'll still love you all the same. ;D

I was wondering the same thing. Is Lisa asking if SHE should!?!?

It's kinda like when you need help but when you ask for it you say "I have this buddy who......"

Lisa the Liberal Lesbian..... Hmmmmmm... The hubby might like that!

As for tithing - we give a straight 10% gross - it's the first thing that comes out of our checks. We also give to other organizations separately. I also don't believe that not being a member of a church excuses your tithe. I have a list of charitable organizations that would appreciate a donation of any size to help them grow the kingdom of God.

Ah yes, the "I have a girlfriend in Canada so you wouldn't know her" syndrome.

Who told you about my girlfriend in Canada? :tapfoot2

How you doin? ;)

What do you mean by "WE"? Just kidding!!! I tithe whenever I remember to bring cash. My church doesn't accept debit cards unfortunately. I'm sure the gays do too. I can't tell the difference between a gay $20 and a straight $20 anyways.

I've never seen a church refuse a check or cash from anyone.

You know "we" - me and my Canadian "friend."
