Rolling down the highway
**SAVE THE DATE!!!** 2nd COMMUNITY MEETING AT BETHANY CHRISTIAN CHURCH: Thursday, Jan. 30th @ 7:00 PM.

Re: Community Meeting re: Airport 1/30/14

I will not be in town.
I hope that you get some answers and hard facts.
I cannot believe that the AA and BOC are handling this so badly.
If they came out and were up front with the information they have (this is presuming that the deal is on the up and up and a good deal for the county) then it would certainly slow down the opposition.
I can only presume that they are either obtuse, don't care about the opposition or the deal has a lot of things in it that they do not want known.
I don't know which of the three it is, but there can be no other explanation.
It reminds me of what the Tampa Bay Bucs first coach, John McKay, said about what happens when you throw a pass, "there are only three things that can happen and two of them are bad".
In this case, all three are bad.

Re: Community Meeting re: Airport 1/30/14

For those of you that can't make it, they are trying to set up a live stream so you can watch in the comfort of your own home. The down side to not going is that you will not be able to ask questions.

At the end of the meeting, everyone is given a 3 x 5 card to write questions, they will be answered as honestly as they can with the information available.

If you have kids, bring them on. It's a great civics lesson. :D

Re: Community Meeting re: Airport 1/30/14

Sadly, I cannot attend... but I really appreciate your positive efforts to help the citizens with these informative meetings.

Please post a link to the live stream, maybe we could start a dedicated thread for public comments during the presentation.

Announcing the time and place of this meeting kinda ruins the whole ambush.

Well unless you haven't planned anything remotely related to releasing any information to the public. I guess the ambush was in the announcement. :laugh

Re: Community Meeting re: Airport 1/30/14

Are members of the airport authority and commissioners going to be speaking?

No, not at this one. I don't know if they will, I have been asking them for months. The agreement with the FAA says they must have a community meeting, haven't heard anything about that yet.

This will be fact based, with links where you can verify the information. There will be a segment on county debt, spending and losses from the county's pet projects.

I am looking forward to learning new and interesting information.

Hope you have a great turn out and we will be sure to watch online.

I would like to come to one of these meetings, but I'm concerned that it's just going to turn into a b*tch session or lynch mob for those who are opposed to the airport. I like hearing facts, but would love for it to be a two-sided discussion.

From what I have heard, those who attended the last meeting found it informative and educational.

Two neighbors that attended said that they thought it was informative, but one-sided. :dunno

I believe there is a standing offer for the other side to present their case to the citizens.

I just wanted to know if they were going to be there. It would be great to hear facts from both sides at the same meeting.

Re: Community Meeting re: Airport 1/30/14

These two groups probably won't be together any time soon. They are the ones involved in the law suit. I just don't see any of the commissioners showing up.

I assure you the first meeting was not a bitch session, yes it was one sided.......we footed the bill and paid for all the materials. They kept saying it was a done deal, they didn't need any community input or approval. The main objective was to let the facts speak for themselves and to let people know it was NOT a done deal.

Here's the video from the first meeting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYuWlwlKCIQ

Re: Community Meeting re: Airport 1/30/14

I'm gonna tune in that video tomorrow at work where it's quiet (most of the time). Thanks for posting it, NG. :)

Keep informed in the community. You thought the studio was a private venture?

Re: Community Meeting re: Airport 1/30/14

Yes the Industrial Building Authority owns the Movie Studio. It was built with taxpayer dollars, is owned by the taxpayers is is bleeding profusely. Hoping to get an update on the possibility of some income this morning at the IBA meeting.

I have learned more than I ever wanted to know in the past few months. The good ole boy system and grandiose schemes are alive and well in Paulding County.

I believe the reason this has gone on so long and so recklessly is because people don't pay attention. I'm learning how important this is.

Here is the county finance dept.'s annual financial report released to the public at the BOC meeting yesterday.
