Ah the unintended consequences

Yes, he should have the same opportunity as other boys of his natural gender. This issue no different than climate change, it's nothing more than social engineering.
You say that but it has been around for a very long time. I just do not believe it is because of society, maybe the fact that people are more open to it, or coming out with how they feel or believe to be, but not that it is a new thing.

I think we're losing sight of the fact that gender reassignment is a choice these people make. While I fully support their right to do this so long as they pay for it; the whole concept of giving away special rights to people because of their choices is nuts!

And I say again that we're opening up a HUGE can of worms with this overly vague qualifier of merely "identifying" as something else. We're already seeing not only male or female, but lots of shades of grey in between. Facebook now has 56 gender categories to choose from. http://www.slate.com/blogs/lexicon_...ories_to_choose_from_including_cisgender.html

It's already beyond crazy.

Fair enough, I just don't buy into the issue. People are free to think and choose what they want, I respect that, but I don't have to respect them or the issue.

:laugh2: I did not even know that about Facebook!

On a serious note, it has not been proven or unproven if it is a choice. I do believe that there has been MRI's on the brains of some that have showed a difference, but as of yet there is not much scientific evidence on either side. In this time of my life, my choice is to believe those that are going through it that they are not making a choice but are born that way. One day that could be proven false, but I personally believe that this has been around for so long that there is more to it than a choice.

All eligible students should have the opportunity to participate in interscholastic athletics in a manner that is consistent with their
gender identity and expression, irrespective of the gender listed on a student’s birth certificate and/or records. - FHSAA

I do not care if you look up what I claim or not. I gave you the information that they do have rules regarding transgenders and permitting them to play. If you want to look it up you can. If not, don't. We are speaking of other states in this thread that have no impact on any of us at this point. I did not think it necessary to post links and 100 page bylaws to have you sift through. I am not lying.
There is more than your linked story out there. Again, I am not lying.
I never said you were lying. I just pointed out that you didn't follow your own rules. After all you made a statement and didn't back it up. I started to let the Title of this thread speak for it's self, but I didn't want you to go ballistic because I didn't add what I thought.

Alaska doesn't have a change in the title ix requirement. They leave it up to the local districts, and won't get involved in disputes related to this.
"
Less than three months ago, amid a national debate over transgender people's rights, the Alaska School Activities Association adopted a policy on transgender athletes.

ASAA's board of directors voted unanimously in April to accept the participation decisions made at the local level. ASAA won't make gender identifications and it won't entertain appeals from schools or districts that object to the decision made by other schools or districts."

But, apparently if others were to make the claims, then you would be all about them posting the links to show the truth of their claim. I'm just asking you to back up your claims just like the rest of us do.
I did see the picture of the boy, and truthfully he looks like any other male that is tall an thin. The only exception is he has prettier hair then some girls I know.

It's a choice to have gender reassignment.

The issue of whether they really are a ___ trapped in a ___'s body is less clear. But I'm still leaning toward psychological problems.

I will address this first. I DID follow my "rules." I ask that people either comment or share thoughts on their links. I did not say anyone had to back up anything. You are being awfully passive aggressive about this whole thing. I am unsure why, and maybe that is not any of my business, but I am just about done with this thread, because I am not participating in a back and forth ugly.
Go ballistic? Wow.

Actually, this is all I am going to address. I think it better I stop here. :)

Oooookaaay.
Well if I were mistaken I apologize. I just think that if one makes a definitive claim (as you have done) then they should provide links, that is all.
And, yes your head is about to explode. I'm not being "passive aggresive." I was just trying to make sure that you (because I knew you and one other would be all over this) understood what I thought about the OP.

Now you state that he has all these medications that he takes, and that there are several states that have new GUIDELINES in place and that they are LAW. You are the one who left the door open for me to go and research (because you didn't post links) your claims. Just because I didn't find any yet to back you up does not indicate that I'm calling you a lair.

It is all good. The FHSAA quote I posted above is directly from the FHSAA book. Somewhere around page 45-50. When this all came up in 2013/14 the DOE posted guidelines on how to interpret the law and that the law does cover transgenders. I just do not see this as a huge issue and as many are quick to point out it is not a large portion of the population so why not have some rules that cover it and go on with our lives. As for the medication, she or her mother in an interview stated that she has been taking hormones. http://www.adn.com/alaska-news/2016/05/27/transgender-student-in-southeast-alaska-sets-her-own-path/ This is not the exact article I read, but all I did was Google and it popped right up.

You're right it is a new bylaw section 4.3 page 49 that has just been put in place this year.
At this point I think that all teams should be coed, and that should (but it won't) make certain people happy.

Oh, and I had already read the link. Dude still looks like a dude to me.

I think that she looks like a girl. :dunno: (One not caked in make-up and more natural, though still feminine)

When you look at her with the other two girls, if folks didn't know she was transgender, they likely wouldn't be able to pick her out.

The point isn't how the person looks, it's about XX or XY which determines your general ability to perform athletically. This is why we have boys and girls ( or men and women's) teams in the first place. Nobody gives a crap if boys play with girls, but they should not be forced to compete against each other. That doesn't mean that a particular female can't beat a particular male, but at every level of competition, males are on average far and away superior at strength sports.

This little pecker might feel good about himself for beating a bunch of girls, but just because he "feels like a woman" doesn't mean that he is one. He's not some sort of hero, he's a cheater, and that is according to rules at every level of competitive sport.

That is a horrible statement and I am frankly shocked you just made it. This is a kid we are talking about in this thread. And two people liked it. Wow. I think I need a break.

What's horrible about it?

I think it's horrible that girls are being forced to compete against boys in a physical sport such as this.
