This crime, killing, rioting, fighting, anger, hate is not something I have ever been able to understand or deal with. We just need love and God back in our lives and sure haven't seen much of that lately. Why is it so hard to live by the 10 commandments? Yes, I love my neighbor(s) but I fear many now.

This goes to exactly what the OP was talking about, we cannot have an "honest discussion" about race
without examining the fact that young black males commit a disproportionate amount of violent crime.
Here is an excellent analysis of the complexities surrounding that truly honest discussion,
if we are prevented from acknowledging the real problem there can be no hope for solution:
Eric Holder Asks for Honest Discussion on Race; The WaPo's Liberal Columnist
Richard Cohen Offers Some Honest Discussion, and Is Immediately Called a Racist

I have no issue with someone saying that, acknowledging that there are complex problems when it comes to race. That is not what was said in the post I have issue.
Blazing Saddles said:Honest discussion about race issues in this country are always labeled as racists because the left knows the honesty and understanding of what truly is going on by these political pimps will destroy their liberal party. Don't hold your breath waiting on Holder and Obama to start thinking rationally.
And lets also remember that prejudice and racism are two different things too. As for Obama, that guy doesn't surprise me at all. I just hope America is finally seeing him for what he is and also what he has surrounded himself with. I found it horribly irrelevant and irresponsible of Obama to relate himself 35 years ago to something happening today. Racism still exists but it is not the same as it was then and he simply fans the flames with comments like that.
I agree that race relations is very complex. I do not agree with the first post (not quoted here) that we should be separate and we can not get along, not safe, and will always make whites pay. What exactly do we call that? :dunnohoneybunny said:ShoeDiva said:honeybunny said:Sungoddess said:Sorry for offending anyone, but that is JMO, and we all have that right. Parts of that post were very accurate, while I strongly disagree with other parts. That disagreement does
not mean that I'm ready to call SG a racist, a word which effectively ends any hope of honest discussion.
Hmmm, somehow my accolade Good for you got deleted. Apparently that must have been an accident.Madea said:unionmom said:I find a lot of things people say to be offensive but they have the right to say them and if I expect to be able to post without being attacked, no matter how stupid I can be at times, I need to be able to afford the same to others. I found the post to be one that goes completely against my experiences in life and against pretty much everything that I believe but there is nothing good to come from attacking the poster.
I agree. And, how can you (the proverbial you) expect to have a civil discussion, and for things to get better, if opinions are attacked? :dunno
I've been offended several times and walked away. It's really not that hard. :whistle

The direction this thread took is a prime example of why many refuse to discuss politics or religion outside the walls of their home. Generally speaking, people are not capable of controlling their emotions or tempering their opinions enough to have an honest dialog on serious issues without allowing their upbringing, life experience, or personal agenda to affect their conversation.
I'll take the default baptist approach, let's all pray about it. That may actually be the most effective conversation we could ever have on the topic.

When I profile, I primarily look at the person's apparel because that is a form of expression that's easy for folks to display. If YOU dress a certain way, I will take you a certain way.Sadie612 said:i am wearing a white shirt and black pants right now..I hope they get along. I just can't handle my outfit fighting today
