Sanders was asked, "Our latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released yesterday -- two-thirds of all voters said they were uncomfortable with a socialist candidate for president. What do you say to those voters, sir?" Sanders responded, ""What was the result of that poll?" Who was winning?" https://www.foxnews.com/media/berni...holt-over-question-unfavorable-poll-socialism
Nice deflection Bernie, but that didn't answer the question. Sure Sanders was leading in that poll with 27%, but most importantly the poll showed 2/3 of those polls were uncomfortable with a socialist as a presidential candidate. If the poll holds true and he were to get the nomination, he would most likely not win the general election. Winning the swing states in this election is key to being elected president. Quite frankly, I don't see union members voting for Sanders; especially those who work in the auto and fuel industries. He's all in favor of taking away they health care plans they currently have and replacing it with a government controlled Medicare for all plan. He's also in favor of putting them out of work with his New Green Deal. Warren is also in favor of putting these people out of work for the same reason.
I did appreciate Buttboy pointing out the fact that Sanders health care plan has a $25T gap in how it would be paid for. Sanders he would raise taxes on everyone, but those tax increases would also save them money because they wouldn't be paying for premiums, deductibles, prescriptions, and other out of pocket medical care costs. Buttboy pressed again how the other $25T to fund the Medicare for all plan would be paid for, implying everyone's taxes would be increased higher than Sanders was claiming.
Sanders and others who favor a national health care plan managed by the government would save people money on health care. What they intentionally avoid telling everyone is that we all would be paying more in taxes, much more than what they claim we will to pay for it. Those politicians love using countries with such health care plans as an examples, but what they leave out is the taxes that their citizens are paying. They all pay income withholding taxes, national and provincial taxes AND a value added tax on everything they purchase. Those value added taxes range anywhere from 16-26% depending upon the country. Businesses pay a much lower corporate tax rate in those countries than what are paid here in the US, putting the burden upon the citizens.
It's necessary for those countries to have low corporate taxes in order for the citizens to have jobs to pay the taxes necessary to fund the national health care plans. Higher corporate taxes would force those corporations to relocate to other countries with lower tax rates. Look at what happened when corporate taxes were raised here; many relocated outside the country. Now look at what happened when our government lowered them. They started coming back and job growth took off and we now have the lowest unemployment rates this nation ever had.
The Democrats who support a national health care plan like Medicare for all know how much people in those other countries they use as examples are paying. They just don't want to let the voters here know that because they would lose their support at the polls. The Democrats are willing to sacrifice national security by downsizing our military to help fund such a stupid health care plan. Such a move would make both China and Russia militarily stronger than US and leave us unable to adequately defend ourselves in the future.
It's a shame Buttboy didn't have the balls to point this all out at the debate.
