I get stuff from the government once a month and I enjoy it.

You did something to earn it though (military service). I'm referring to hand outs.

Ohhh, I got ya. Hey, did you still wanna borrow my EBT card this weekend for the liquor store?

Honestly, I agree with you. Angers me tremendously.

We're getting a new road just south of us - Seven Hills Boulevard Extension. Runs from CVS/Publix on Cedarcrest over to 92 at Stilesboro Road. Bid to CW Matthews at $8.5M; expected to cost $10M eventually (2 lanes at first, divided median; 4 lanes later). $10M road to join two roads which intersect not two miles away (at Crossroads). GAH!!!!!!!

I called to complain about it, and a) it's a done deal, and 2) they actually said, "But it's not our money...it's not costing us a thing. This is federal highway money." AND JUST WHO THE HELL DO THEY THINK PAYS FEDERAL INCOME TAXES FROM WHERE THEY GET THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY MONEY??? Pissed me right off.

(Sorry for the language. Stuff like this gets me all hot and bothered. And not in a good way.)

That's part of the problem, a shockingly high percentage of the country really doesn't understand where the money comes from. And that in itself is sad.

But I suspect the government has intentionally played a big role in dumbing these people down.

The mindset at that point is that it is going to go somewhere so it may as well come here.

Yes, that's one of the other things they said...that if somebody's gonna get it anyway, it may as well be us. To which I say - IT HAS TO STOP SOMEWHERE. SOMEBODY SOMETIME HAS TO START SAYING NO!!! This is as silly and useless a road as the Bridge to Nowhere. Actually, the Bridge to Nowhere actually made a good bit of sense...it was just way expensive (duh...it's a bridge), and it made for a good sound bite. It would have joined Ketchikan, AK, to an island nearby which is reachable only by ferry. Would have boosted the local economy greatly. This road will boost nothing except the pockets of somebody's brother-in-law's cousin who I suspect may own an acre or eight along the road which may be sold for retail development. GAH!!!!!!!
