Our sweet little puppy now has demodectic mange! Ugh!
We took her yesterday. She has to take an oral medication daily for a month. From what I've read online, it is going to be a booger to cure.
Does anybody have any experience or advice?
It's not as bad as all that. The real pain is having to take her back and forth to the vet for the skin scrapes (about every three weeks, till they are negative.) Are they treating with Ivermectin? If so the good news is you won't have to give heart-worm meds for a while.
There was a time when you had to take her in weekly for baths. Be happy that is not the case. She'll be fine before you know it, then you'll be looking at a dog with a great coat!!
Yes, that's what they've given her. I'm actually a little encouraged, because after reading online some more, this outbreak is probably caused by her first heat coming soon. I'm beginning to think she's a little younger than the vet originally thought.
Hopefully, this will be better soon.
I also read about some treatment with ProMeris. Have you heard about that?
And thanks for your advice! I had forgotten about your expertise!
