I love those! I still watch them when I can catch them on tv.

The old black and whites, Andy Griffith, Beverly Hillbillies, I can't believe no one has mentioned Gilligan's Island.
Today would have to be Nascar, Deadliest Catch, American Chopper.

Roseanne. She's crazy as a loon now, but I still love that show.

Also the Cosby Show.

I dont watch much TV. LOL

I can't watch her. it's too bad 'cause John Goodman is a funny dude, but I cannot watch that horrible women.

I think she was as crazy as a loon then when she fired the writers. Show spiraled down after that. That first season was funny and Goodman sounded like he lived by Joliet. lol

I'm out of touch with newer TV. Most of the stuff I like I actually discovered on Netflix (with the exception of Barney Miller).

Barney Miller: I remember watching this with my father when we got our first TV, an old black and white TV in a wooden box. It must have been a used TV because this was the early 1980s.

The Sandbaggers: I discovered this 2 years ago. It's an amazingly tight spy show that requires total attention. Many episodes could have been improved with an additional half hour or so just to spread events out.

Some others I've liked to varying degrees include Danger Man, The Prisoner, Life on Mars (UK version), and Hill Street Blues.

One of the things that bothers me about a lot of TV, new and old, is that I really don't have to pay much attention. The shows are written to fill an hour with simplistic storylines that are easily resolved in an hour or less with a happy ending. I've tried out some shows like Grimm, Burn Notice, Castle, and Firefly, but I find that none of these require much attention. I want TV to suck me out of my world and totally envelope me in its world. The two shows I mentioned above do this. A recent show that often does this is Battlestar Galactica.

TV should be an escape, but how can it be an escape if it can't even hold my attention? What I see too much is that spectacle is substituted for story. And I'm really bothered with shows with a horrific murder (like Castle) and everyone is all jokey and happy at the end. It's like the events of the show never affect the characters.

Weird. I have not seen a commercial or any advertising! I will have to go look it up.

Oh! I wanna add one to the list!

The Vicar of Dibley! Now that is one funny show! I've been watching it since I first caught it on PBS years ago. All it is now is re-runs, and I've seen them ALL, but it never fails to make me LOL.

Yeah, I could never really get into the Vicar one. I love Alice (is that her name?...the goofy assistant?), but I never laughed otherwise much. I'd say I'm not a particular Dawn French fan, but I loved Absolutely Fabulous, which she also co-wrote/produced, so that shoots that theory.

I read some months back that she lost a lot of weight. Went through a devastating divorce and took her awhile to get back to living life.
