I've worn a Fitbit for years. The first 2 or 3 didn't last long; they warranted one and finally gave me a discount on the one I have now, which is a Versa 2. To be fair, I've had it for four years, it's been the best one yet.

But, I put it on charge this morning while showering, as I always do, and as soon as cal walked out of the shower, I smelled something burning. When I picked up the FItbit, still on the charger, it was so hot it burnt a blister on my finger.

Same 1 amp charger I've used for years, and I plugged another device into it to make sure it was still working OK.

Needless to day, the Fitbit doesn't work anymore, but it does concern me that a small device like this on a 1 amp USB charger could get that hot.

I think I'm done with FItbit, might rethink the whole fitness watch thing altogether.

Got it in today, and so far I'm really impressed. Can't go wrong for $40

Hmm.. I'm showing a $10 off coupon too. Really nice for $30. Are their apps you have to load in your phone to access the functions?
 
Surprisingly, the replacement charging cables are available on Amazon.

I don't think this one is quite as accurate on sleep tracking as the fitbit was. But, I had gotten way too dependant on that anyway, so I probably need to pay less attention to it.

So far, it appears to do very well for all the other stuff it tracks.
 
Well it arrived, also in a much larger box than needed - but hey its Amazon I'm sure it makes sense.

So far, no bueno. Won't connect to bluetooth (the phone sees it, but says can't connect) and the ap (pretty klugey) won't let me proceed until I turn on a few permissions, which are very vaguely listed.

This may end up in the "one of these days when I get time to screw around with it" pile
