I am surprised I did not see any post or discussion about the Paulding elections today. I really expected a PSA. There was only one county wide referendum on the renewal of an ESPLOST. I am not in city limits of Hiram or Dallas so that was all I had on the ballot. My experience with the Stacey Abrams Let the Taxpayer Pay for New Machines We Don't Need was a disaster. I was at poll at 6:50 am had to wait until 7:00 am which is the posted time so that is fine. Went in and the "Poll Pads" were not operational. The poll workers frantically and politely tried everything they could to get them to work. No dice. Forward to 7:30 am. Nothing they tried, no number of phone calls could open the polls electronically. Finally the manager said you can either come back, wait until we get it started which they did not know how long that might take or vote provisional on paper. I voted provisional on paper like it should be anyway without all the technology. Another case of government interference to cure an issue that doesn't exist that failed miserably using my damn tax dollars.
 
I’ll take a wild guess and say the ESPLOST passed. After all, they’ll need more tax revenue for “new and improved” voting machines.
 
As long as the ESPLOST Keeps paying for that huge bond from 10 years ago I’ll vote for it. They will get the funding out of us some other way as long as there is growth and at least that reduces our property tax. If they ever quit including that, then we will have a problem.
 
Since I live in Aragon, I voted there. We only had 2 items on which to vote. Mayor, and council. No one was running against the candidate for Mayor, so that was a lock. But, I was very happy to vote against the 2 people that I did not want to be on the council. I'm quite happy to report that the 2 I didn't want on the city council weren't elected. I went to bed happy. :)

ESPLOST can't be used for anything other than Education.
I favor this for two reasons, the first is that it extracts monies from other counties besides Paulding thereby reducing the overall money that we have to pay back for the school bonds. Secondly, it shows just how a Fair Tax might work.
