Under the old host, the "Shout Box" slowed the site down a little. We don't know for certain how it will interact with the new host. Question is....do you want to keep it or does it even matter? We want to make The Hwy a place everyone enjoys. We will do everything in our power to please our Drivers, so let us know. :D
 
Just to expand a bit...the Shout Box is an extension of the chat feature. It is a resource hog because it constantly "pings" the server. It's not a killer, but it can slow things down at times.

This is entirely up to you guys, and we can always change our collective mind later if we want. We are Borg.
 
I rarely use it, so it doesn't really matter to me. I'm just along for the ride. :laugh Lawd, I crack myself up.
 
I kinda like the shout box. I find it very entertaining at times. But if the current one is an energy thief why can't we devise our own by putting it in the General forum and making it a sticky?

That is, if everyone wants to keep it. If it goes away, not a big deal either.
 
Only used it once or twice. IMO, if it's a power hog to the site NIX it. But then again it may be a tool for drive thru members just to check in
 
It is nice to have at times. I haven't used it much in the last month or so. I think Kattie might be on to something. If we had a sticky that was something like - online, come chat - people could just randomly post in that and chat. I do not see a pressing need to keep something that slows us down.
