Vaccinated woman gets covid

More than a month after getting her second dose of Moderna's vaccine, the woman contracts covid.

Effectiveness isn't 100%. Plus my understanding is even if someone does contract it, the affects are significantly reduced.

This is the first report of someone getting it after having both vaccinations. 53.4 million have been fully vaccinated in our country. I'd say one in all that is pretty damn good.

It was only a matter of time.

The number of UNvaccinated people who will never get COVID is far higher.

This is especially expected with the open national borders and the influx of new variants of COVID. The Vaccine helps with those, but won't prevent them. We are going to see more and more of these cases as we let the untested enter the country at will.

I would also add that you might notice that the national media that do bother to mention this are not reporting what variant it is. If it was pointed out to be a south American one, their might be pressure to close the borders....

I'll put my full faith and trust in the vaccine,,, besides, the shot card lets me get on an airplane and into a Braves game and into a Rap concert,,, wait a minute, I'm not going any of those places, but I could if I wanted!

It's my excuse for saving money. Sorry honey we can't go because we don't have a passport. We'll have to watch it here at home while dinner is cooking.

I saw that 167 people worldwide so far have tested positive after believing they might have symptoms of Covid. Here's the thing:

They may have had the flu or other disease, the test is about as effective as the vaccine.

They may have breathed in a tiny amount of the virus within the last day or so which would cause a positive result, and they may again just have the flu or another illness.

No hospitalizations have been reported and no deaths.

This is 167 out of what, 50 million or so? If this causes you to double mask don't go out in the sun even with sunblock on and a floppy hat.

Unfortunately, some have been hospitalized and died. From the article I linked above (emphasis is mine):

However, at least eight people with breakthrough cases have been hospitalized. The Washington State Department of Health is also investigating two potential breakthrough cases where the individuals died. Both patients were over 80 years old and suffered from underlying health issues.

Given their age and underlying health issues, one has to wonder if they died with COVID or because of COVID.
