Tybee Beach got trashed on Saturday. Think freaknik. It was a bunch of college students. There were also 18 arrested. I think you can fill in the rest of the story. It was cleaned up by residents of Tybee, other college students (not from the group that trashed it, of course) and some visitors from out of town.
Yep, I'm mad as hell. I'm getting really sick of some people.

I love that beach and really hate to hear this. Took the kids there when they were young and enjoyed the birds, beach, and dolphins.
 
Sad indeed! One of our favorite beaches. Just got back from St. Simons Island and had a blast there as well. I've never had a bad time at any beach come to think of it. :))
 
I spent a lot of time at Tybee Island when my husband was working on a project in Savannah a couple of years ago. One thing that I learned after getting to know several of the full-time residents there is that they have a lot of pride in Tybee and take very good care of their island.

It is a shame that a bunch of "mindless" idiots were able to do so much destruction. Maybe they will think twice next time they decide they are going to trash something.
 
Hoping this group will understand the consequences if they trash it again next year. I think we need a group of volunteer community watchers to make sure they pick up their dang trash!!!

A friend of mine got married on the beach there this weekend. I haven't heard if they had any issues or not. Her pictures looked great anyways
