Migrant caravan abandons plan to travel to US border

The just over 1,000 migrants who currently make up the caravan -- many traveling in families of up to 20 people -- have been camped in the southern town since the weekend, deciding their next move in the face of daily attacks from Trump.

The Republican president vowed to send the US military to secure the border and threatened to axe the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) if Mexico did not stop the caravan.

The caravan is in fact a yearly event whose goal is more to raise awareness about the plight of migrants than to reach the United States -- though some participants have traveled to the border in the past.

Mujica said this year's caravan was so large it would have been dangerous to travel to the border by train-hopping.

"There are too many children -- 450 in all. There are lots of babies. Hopping the train, as we did in the past, would have been crazy," he said.

President Barack Obama has allowed some 400,000 unskilled Central American migrants to pour into the nation’s schools, job-markets, welfare offices, hospitals and jails since 2012, according to government data.
28 Jul 2016
By the end of June, he had cleared the path for 214,982 “unaccompanied” youths plus 181,456 women and children to come in to the country since October 2012. That adds up to 396,428 migrants — with three months to go before the end of the 2016 fiscal year in October.

The inflow is so large that it is greater than the number of African-American men who will turn 18 this year. It is equal to roughly 40 percent of the annual inflow of 1 million legal immigrants, and equal to 10 percent of all young Americans who join the workforce each year.

My comments in black ink.

Look at all the trash all over the ground at the end of the video. :nun:

We have enough poverty here in America... why do we want 1000 people, (450 children) to come to our country.

Loooooovvvvveeeeeeeee how they say, "The group, mainly Hondurans, also includes Salvadorans, Guatemalans and Nicaraguans, mostly fleeing the brutal gang violence that has made Central America home to some of the highest murder rates in the world.

Gee... ya think maybe we want to close our boarder so we don't become a shit hole like they are trying to escape from?
Why the highest murder rates? No law and order perhaps? Duh:duh:

In the video this nut job said they want to "advocate for the rule of law"... WHAT WTF is he talking about? WHAT rule of law?

Then the article says this: "Carol Torres, a 26-year-old Honduran woman, told AFP she joined the caravan after her abusive husband hired gang hitmen to attack her, forcing her to leave her two children behind.

She said she planned to settle in Tijuana, on the Mexican side of the border -- not cross into the United States.

"I don't believe in the American dream, because the president over there is a son of a bitch who doesn't like immigrants," she said.

Well hallelujah! She does not feel welcome.

Yeah, that's my "son of a bitch" (Trump) who likes his country enough to stop abusive husbands and hitmen from terrorizing our country because we have do have laws... unlike her country. So tired of people who leave where they hate... but want the new place to be just like the one they left because they hate the new one? What am I misssing?

In Mexico, the 1,000 or so migrants who currently make up the caravan -- many traveling in families of up to 20 people -- have been camped in Matias Romero since the weekend, deciding their next move.

The group, mainly Hondurans, also includes Salvadorans, Guatemalans and Nicaraguans, mostly fleeing the brutal gang violence that has made Central America home to some of the highest murder rates in the world.

The caravan is in fact a yearly event held since 2010 and its goal is more to raise awareness about the plight of migrants than to reach the United States -- though some participants have traveled to the border in the past. :fingerwag:
