There are days I feel my age

Uggg

Just spent 10+ hours working on wiring the surround sound speakers for the entertainment center. Still not finished putting it all together, although I'm finished for the day. I hurt in places I forgot I had. This is the last time I do this on my own.

Well, if you were a little closer I woulda helped.

I spent all day in my basement. Put in a rolling bin organizer I got at Sam's, some metal drawers I got from my dad's, cleaned up a bunch, installed a retractable hose reel for the air compressor.

I pulled the boat out with the tractor to make it easier to work in there. Kinda made me wanna go fishin'.

There is an amazing amount of fishing around here. Fishing and hunting seem to be almost as popular as music.

The help would have been appreciated. I think I went up and down stairs, and crossed attic rafters, about 50+ times. Next time I'm paying someone to put in the system!

It is too bad you don't live here. Son works for cheap (food) and can do all that. His principal told me the other day she did not know how she was going to let him graduate because no one can run and wire everything for all the events! LOL (he missed one because of a field trip and they wound up without sound)

I want to install a theater surround sound system in my family room when I get home. It's going to be interesting to figure out how to run the wiring behind the walls. I want to mount the speakers in the upper corners near the ceiling with them pointed down at an angle. I don't want them on the floor.

Fox, the last time I did this, I had a house with a basement. Wasn't easy, but much easier than this. I ended up running 4 speakers, with wires behind the walls, in two rooms. One wall in both rooms was an outside wall, so I had the added pleasure of dealing with insulation. One room, I ended up adding a few holes in the wall to help me fish the wiring.

This house, which has a crawl space, should have been easier. It was one of those cases where everything that could have gone wrong - did.

Sorry to hear so much went wrong doing it.

When I get home, I'm replacing all my flooring. My master bedroom is above my family room and garage. I was thinking about taking the subfloor up to put in insultation between the bedroom floor and garage ceiling as there isn't any. I was also thinking about doing the same thing between the floor and the family room ceiling to act as a sound barrier. I thought perhaps it would be a lot easier to mount the speakers in the ceiling and run the speaker wires while the subfloor was up. I don't know though.

^^^ Sounds like a very good idea!

I agree. If you are going to be down to the subfloor, go ahead and spend a little extra time running the wiring. And use some good wiring, Monoprice.com is a good place to buy stuff like that.
